Plot Summary

Genres: Animation, Comedy, Family, Fantasy, Mystery
Tagline: There Goes The Neighborhood.
Plot Outline Three teens discover that their neighbor's house is really a living, breathing, scary monster.
Plot Synopsis: Three kids DJ (Mitchel Musso), Chowder (Sam Lerner), and Jenny (Spencer Locke) discover that the house across the street from DJ's is alive. It eats anything that goes on its property. They try to convince the babysitter (Maggie Gyllenhaal), the police, and some weirdo named Skull (Jon Heder). They try to unravel the mystery of the house and they have to go inside to find that the house is voiced by Kathleen Turner. Oh my god, it's Kathleen Turner! Run for the hills! Anyway, this movie is PG-rated, great for kids, and got two-thumbs up from Ebert & Roeper.

*********

I just watched it. It was pretty funny. I read that it might be too scary for some small children, but my youngest is 6 and he thought it was really cool. It had a few smaller parts voiced by some very recognizable voices. Jon Heder, Fred Willard, and Jason Lee really stood out, but I didn’t realize Steve Buscemi was Nebbercraker until I looked it up.

I thought this trivia item was pretty funny.

To keep the movie a PG rating, the victims that were eaten (Bones, the cops and the dog) had to come back to life during the end credits.

Yeah, I watched the movie at the drive in and couldn't believe how not for kids this movie was.

Loved it though. Chowder was hilarious.

The movie was actually more scary than most of the "horror" films released in the past several years.
