We have a lot of cap. Whats the point of having more cap room? We’re not going to sign an equivalent replacement with the recovered cap.

In this like the big year Dortch was going to have?

What is the point of committing cap room to a RT who won't play 75% of the year and will have to ramp up upon return? What makes you think we can't find a player who will give us Jonah Williams level play for more than 25% of the season with $10.1 million? seems like that would be VERY easy to find.

Very similar reason DJ Humphries was cut and retired... If you get injured that late in the season, you add zero value to the team next season.

DJ at $8M a year at RT would be way better than Jonah at $16 mill cap hit for 4 games of play.

We don't know if and when Jonah Williams will come back. Do you know who does? Monti Ossenfort.

This was an intriguing story raised here by @Chopper0080 based on a passing mention by the AZSPT (or whatever) crew. Maybe it's real, but I'll wait and see before getting Big Mad.

It's pretty easy to look at the FA tackles available and decide where the alternatives are. There are four pending free agent RTs who played more than 50% of the snaps for their team last season.

One of them is Kelvin Beachum. Another is Mekhi Becton, who played guard last year.

the fact that Monti was crisp suggests to me the injury is the type that will be behind him by the time training camp starts

Jonah being ready might be the diff between HAVING to take Justin Simmons (to pick one) at 16 vs. resigning Beach and seeing if Christian Jones develops enough in 2025 to be the answer in 2026.

This is always the way.

Change nothing.... Fit the system...... Retain mediocrity....... Spin it as success to your fans.

Restructuring Murray would make moving him more difficult. I’m guessing that’s not the plan. This is the deciding year IMO.

Yes, this year will definitely be the deciding year. Just like the last one, and the one before...

I would suggest that Odegard go back and listen to what Michael & MO said back when MO was hired. They’re going to be a draft & develop franchise with the goal of sustainable success. We may be active in free agency, but we won’t break the bank in the early stages of free agency. If that process changes, fine, but until then, they have made it very clear as to how they intend to build this franchise.

Every team's goal is sustainable success.

Not breaking the bank is code for cheap.

It's clear the same owner who is ranked as one of the worst in the NFL and has a long history of bad decision making, has made another decision which could also turn out bad.
