Hi everyone,

I noticed a couple of things today here in San Antonio that I thought some of you guys might find interesting and amusing.

First--here in SA, the leading sports talk show is on 1250 AM ESPN--The Zone. The hosts are Chris Duel and Jason Minnix.

As you might very well imagine--they were pretty down today. But this afternoon, Chris got some calls from Laker fans who were talking some heavy smack about how they were going to "take care" of the Suns for us, etc. I was glad to hear Duel blast this guy and state the station would be heavy supporters of the Suns and how Steve Nash and company would kick Laker ass. The guy was so obnoxious that they blew him up on the air (sound effect for an explosion).

The show is excellent. I listen to it on my computer. It airs from 3-7 pm Central Standard Time. If you befriend Chris Duel on Facebook, you can communicate to him while he is on the air and he will read your comments to the audience. I think the fanbase here in San Antonio will be very vocal in favor of the Suns during your battle with the Lakers, and if you want to listen in, I think you would get a kick out of this show. Laker fans are always calling and talking smack and now that they are dumping on the Suns, it is an interesting dynamic listening to Spurs fans and radio hosts here in San Antonio standing up for Steve Kerr, Alvin Gentry, Steve Nash, etc.

Second--there is a really amusing thread that was started on Spurstalk.com titled "Steve Nash Appreciation." It is pretty interesting--you should check it out.

During the exit interviews today, both Parker and Ginobili were very much in praise of the Suns. No excuses. The best team won.

Anyway--I thought you might find it interesting to see how fans outside of Arizona are already taking sides in your upcoming battle.

Good luck everybody--and once again--congratulations on having a great team and a great front office!

I'd never thought I'd say this but I actually like San Antonio and the spurs now.. Maybe because of the relief that we finally beat them.. It'll probably wear off and I'll go back to hating the spurs.

Oh well.. I'm really liking this support and the "no hard feelings" attitude from the spurs fans.. thanks!

No problem--the vast majority of Spurs fans who are speaking out are effusive in their praise of the way the Suns took control of the series.

BTW--here is the link to the San Antonio version of ESPN. The Chris and Jason Show airs from 3-7 pm CST Monday though Friday:

It's pretty obvious the Spurs and their fans respect the Suns and even felt bad for them at times with some of the bad luck we endured over the years against the.

I would bet the Spurs fans would even say, they would have liked to see how these past series might have been played without injuries, suspensions, and Donaghy as us Suns fans like to remind them time and time again.

Spurs fans, like their team, are classy to the end. As screwed up as some of those losses were, I never had real vitirol for anyone on the team except for Manu and Bowen.

Its just tough to REALLY hate Tim, Pop, and Parker because they do everything the right way.

But enough of the love fest.

That victory last night was the gorilla being lifted off the franchises shoulders, and I am super glad we kicked the Spurs teeth in the way we did. Couldn't have been more gratifying really.

So thanks for the kind words Spurs fans but we will match up again and my distaste for the colors and Manu will make my blood boil again. That is for sure. But I have to admit I like you guys a lot better when we win :)

In the mean time, get on the bandwagon while we kick some Laker ass

Maybe all the Spurs trolls have crawled back in their holes and only the sensible ones have something objective to say. I admit to liking the Spurs a little and damn Ginobili is shockingly good at interviews. I really expected to hear some bs. Oh well can't hate them anymore like I used to. Popovich is kind a funny to listen to also the way he handles stupid questions. Keep posting Spurs fans, it is nice to hear other points of view that are honest evaluations which takes the homerism element out. Parker is better than I thought too. Duncan didn't have his usual dominant games this series either, could have been his knee.

I never had a problem liking the Spurs as an organization. In general, they usually display good sportmanship and are classy (except for some of the goons in the past, ie Bowen/Horry).

San Antonio and Phoenix need to support each other because the big markets are going to end up dominating the medium ones in the future if they don't get a cap agreement in place.

So in that regard, I expect Duncan, Ginobli and a few other guys to be at practice tomorrow. ;)

Been a longtime fan of the city of San Antonio! Love the Riverwalk. Love places like Mi Tierra's... Even drove out of the city to go hit Ruby's BBQ one time. Awesome!

Good to see the Spurs fans supporting our Suns. Classy bunch. And it apparently is not soley driven by Laker hate. Listening to the comments from several Spurs players, their respect for the Suns is real.

Good stuff! Now, we just need to finish what we started and kick some Laker punk-ass!!!

Honestly most the "hate" stuff is driven by the fans. The Suns and Spurs players have been friends for a long time. Especially the international players. They go home in their Escalades and play on their gold-plated xBox while the fans churn out all kinds of bitter fiction on the message boards.

The caveat is no one respected Mike D'Antoni because D'Antoni respected no one but himself.

David Robinson used to be one of my most favorite players outside of the suns organization in the 90's. The ultimate class act. It seems like Ginobili, Horry and Bowen did a very good job of masking the fact that SA has some decent people on their payroll. I guess outside of calling the NBA dress code "********" and crying when he fouls someone, there really isnt any knack against him.

Hell, everybody used to hate the Motor City Bad Boys when Laimbeer, Mahorn and Rodman were together.

En, safe to say, all we hated from the Spurs were Bowen and Horry for their dirtiness. Hey, even Bowen's best friend Raja is no longer on the team. ;)
