Of course the fire will blaze on. Especially since its the Cards themselves that put the most gasoline on the darn thing with these two really damning comments.

"We agonized over that one," one team official said. "We still do."

"Brown has been a capable starter, but some inside the Arizona organization believe he was the team's fourth-best lineman this season behind Wells, Gandy and center Lyle Sendlein."

When the article says there was big internal fights going on I bet it was between the coaching staff and the scouting staff. Just seems like a fight that would happen between coaches and scouts. The whole need versus BPA thing.

We will here about it again come pro bowl when Warner, Boldin, Fitz, and Peterson will all be starters for the NFC.

But DRC makes up for any draft mistakes over the last 5 years total.

good. This closes the book on the matter in my mind. They made a draft mistake. Teams do it all the time and its inherent in drafting.

I am glad that they arent so dogmatic that they could continue to insist to themselves that they made the right choice.

Its also a mistake to assume that everything would be identical with the exception of having AP in the backfield and some other right tackle.

The Cardinals could very well have turned into a strong running team with Matt Leinart at QB (after Warner retired because he wasnt going to play) that went 10-6 this year and lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Funny, I recall that with all the offensive power the Vikings had with Carter, Moss, et.al --- they couldn't make it to the Super Bowl, (a fact that Carter agonizes over today and will until he dies) I believe we made the right call on Brown and look where we are -------

The draft is a crap shoot. More misses then hits. It was not a mistake to take Brown. Everyone forgets that Peterson was dealing with knee problems and there were even some fears expressed on draft day he'd miss his first season because of them. Hindsight is always 20-20. Who knows, w/o a line if Peterson would be the runner here he is in with the Vikings? Remember Garrison Hurst????

It was either Levi Brown.

or keep the dancing bear that was Leonard Davis for a ridiculous amount of money.

Or play Elton Brown, and Brandon Gorin out there.

I'll take Levi Brown, and a oppourtunity to play in the Superbowl anytime.

Doesn't matter how good of a runner you have in the backfield if the line can't open up holes or make blocks - something that has plagued the Cards since they moved here, at least.

The Cards have drafted plenty of good running backs only to have them not live up to expectations.

It starts w/ a good offensive line... period!

The Vikings with AP cleaned out their lockers 3 weeks ago.

End of story.

*sigh*; for 2008 season...

What other season is there?

(And who says we can't pick up a very good RB in the draft that fully compliments our "O" for years to come in tandem with Hightower. JJ..)

Until Minn settles their QB problems, they'll remain pretenders.

Yep, except L. Davis was already gone to the 'Pukes, iirc.

So if the Cardinals had selected Peterson, who is at RT? Brandon Gorin? Oliver Ross?

Further, I think that Levi Brown will still be holding down an anchor spot for the Cardinals when Peterson is long retired.

I am just saying; you wish it would go away, I wish it would go away, but it will be brought up next season when AP goes off or when LB has a bad game.

Thats a pretty easy assumption to make considering OT life spans are much longer then RB life spans.

Let's see ... the Cardinals are playing in the SB and the Vikings are at home watching. You picked the right player. If you control the LOS your skill players will perform for you. Any team can go back a few years and say "if only I picked so and so". They've got a name for those types of Monday morning QBs ... they are called "Sportswriters". :)

And Cards with AP wouldn't be in the Super Bowl? You can't say that for sure. That argument is flawed. Maybe with whoever else we had ended up starting at RT this year would have done as well or better? I will say however that had we not drafted Levi last year and it had caused us to draft a tackle this year instead of DRC then AP isn't worth it.

DRC+Levi >>>> AP+OT?

Thats the first good arguement for not picking AP that I have seen yet. And I agree.

You are showing the EXACT problem you have when you draft for need instead of the best available player. Imagine if we didn't do that with Fitzgerald because we already had Boldin....

uh, Shane, when was the last time anyone even commented on this? Why bring it up? Just to make yourself upset at people who will start talking about it again?

Why did I bring it up? Because there was nationally written news article about it and it has always been a hot topic around here. Thus relevant.

We are in the the SB and even if we win it I could totally see someone on here next year when Peterson rips off 150 and 3 scores making a thread saying "Adrian Peterson is a monster oh what could have been" etc..etc...

Which IMHO would be asinine considering we would be SB champs and in the ultimate team sport obviously made the right choices.
