You and I both know that the circumstances there were unique and not indicative of performance over an entire season.

I'm not saying cam will work against everyone, he won't - but Dario can start those nights I guess.

Hopefully they are going to use the MLE on somebody - but personally I would look for a scoring guard or wing with that money.

pathetic if true. If this team doesn’t use the MLE to go for at least one more serviceable, the Chris Paul move will be totally halfassed.

This. 100% this. And you can then expect both Paul AND Booker to be gone after two very tumultuous seasons.

Neither Cam nor Dario can defend or rebound at the 4.

You only got a certain amount of money

A 6'10" kid that might be a nice piece of the future, but with his stiff body and skinny legs isn't ready to play more than 5-10 minutes a game until he develops physically. I like the Smith pick for the future, but he really doesn't help us right now. And he needs a legitimate 4 to mentor him. The closest thing we have to that is a slow 3 in Cam and a skinny 5 in Saric.

You're ignoring the other end of the floor, which is where we really need help. Carmelo and Kaminsky are two of the worst defenders, if not THE two worst defenders, at the power forward position in the NBA.

Melo helped save the Blazers season.

With Paul, Bridges, and Ayton he should be ok.

15 PTS from the PF spot is pretty good for suns next season.

Booker 23+
Ayton 18-22
Bridges 12-16
Melo 10-16
Paul 15-18

On the low end, that's 80 Pts from the starters.

If Frank scored 15 a game last yr defense or not Suns are a playoff team.

Melo had games last year where he helped carry that team to wins.

Coming off a year layoff competing with players already in a groove.

Melo can help the Suns next season make the playoffs.

Other than theoretical spacing, we don't need points from the power forward spot. We need rebounding, defense and toughness.

If Frank scores 15 but gives up 30, that doesn't help us...

melo can help if he continues to know his role, which I think he does now.

Only All-star PF score 30

Not saying Melo is the best choice but he is a choice that can help next season.

Ayton and Bridges can help on D if Melo is getting abused.

Or scrub PF who are defended by the likes of Cam and Saric, as we saw repeatedly last year, including in the bubble. (Exhibit A: The career game the Sixers' fourth string PF had against us.)

He can score as well.

But he gives up more on the defensive end. And Ayton and Bridges couldn't cover for Cam and Saric, who were willing albeit weak defenders. What do you think would happen with a Carmelo who doesn't even try to defend?

As a 4th or 5th scorer I think this will work.

He had some pretty good games 2nd half of the season.

dude he’s not a project. He’s playing now this isn’t some raw kid from over seas. You need to come to terms with this

that’s why he was drafted 10 the Suns aren’t in build for the future mode anymore the time is now.

He's a nice prospect, but he is not NBA ready. That's a fact.

And how do you propose we keep opposing power forwards from going off for 40 or 50 points?

Ask James Jones, but the faster you accept this the faster you can move on in life. Lol

Best case scenario, Smith is 2-3 years away from starting. He has some developing to do. Our bench at the 4/5 should be fine with Saric, Smith and Cam, though we could use a beefy back-up for match-up purposes.

The problem is we still need a starting 4, a back-up 2 and a back-up 3, and we only have the MLE and BAE available.
I wish I would have started a counter for how many times you say a player is 2-3 years away, it's a go to saying for you
