Milos Vujanic, Europe's top point guard, has tougher hurdles to get to the Suns than he did last summer when the Knicks drafted him.
Vujanic has expressed a desire to join the Suns, who traded for his rights in January, to his Yugoslavian countrymen and friends in the NBA. It would have been a smoother entry last year when he had a $150,000 buyout. He is in the first year of a three-year deal with Skipper Bologna in Italy and does not have a buyout clause, which is $500,000, until after next season.
Another snag is that Bologna teammate Carlos Delfino, who is Pistons property, also wants to come to the NBA.
"Ultimately his agent needs to negotiate a buyout with the club," Colangelo said.
Vujanic made two free throws with 3.8 seconds left in an 81-80 win Wednesday that sent Bologna to the European Final Four.
