??? Are you crazy? Poor man's Winfield? He SUCKED! Why did he make all those tackles? Because they kept throwing on and COMPLETING PASSES on him! Egads, this isn't the old days where we had to pump up the play of some middling nobody as our star. He is what he is...an average bottom-of-the-roster CB. Does he give us decent depth to come in on obvious passing downs? Sure. Is he a good starting CB and can he ever be? I seriously doubt it.
It's interesting how different people's perspectives are. I thought Adams played exceptionally well under the circumstances. In fact, I thought he deserved one of the game balls. Look at the numbers: Brandon Gibson, Michael Adams' man, was thrown to 17 times and caught 5 passes for 61 yards and 0 TDs. Let's see: that's 5 completions versus 12 incompletions. His longest catch was 22 yards, which means his other 4 catches averaged about 7 yards per catch. Adams played him tight and dogged him on virtually every route...and made one of the best plays of the game when he managed to get his hand in to tick the fade pass thrown to him in the end zone.
If our off-corner away from DRC gives up a mere 5/61/0, wouldn't we take that every time without hesitation? And, as Cardiac pointed out, BMF has been picked on over and over as well because teams are throwing away from DRC.
Because of Adams' excellent ability to force the run to his side he could have a huge impact in this week's game for stopping Chris Johnson on the perimeter before he can into a full bore sprint into the open field. Coaches can't teach quickness and instincts and Adams has the best quickness and instincts for forcing the run than any CB on the roster. Give him some help over the top versus taller receivers, otherwise, IMO, he's got what it takes to play his position well, as he did last week.
