Go Cardinals! Yay!!!
I'm pretty bummed out today after hearing that Pat Tillman lost his life in Afghanistan. Hundreds of soldiers have given their lives and by no means are their lives any less meaningful than Pat's but for some reason his death hits me harder.
So I thought I'd go with my favorite comedy to try and put a smile on my face. This is one of my all-time favorites, right behind Monty Python & the Holy Grail as far as comedies go.
Is it stupid? Oh yeah. Juvenile? Oh hell yeah. But it puts a smile on my face no matter what my mood was prior to viewing it and for some sick reason it never gets old.
Plot:
Roy Munson was the state bowling champion in 1979. Unfortunately, soon after he earned that honor, his hand was removed after trying to cheat the wrong guys. For the last 17 years he has been living a very unhappy life selling bowling equipment, with a rubber hand. And now he meets Ishmael, a young Amish man who is a natural born bowler. After convincing Ishmael to come with him and use his talents to win money on the professional bowling circuit to help save his families farm, the two head out and start winning tournaments. A crude, yet funny, comedy which switches gears about three fourths of the way through and becomes much more serious.
This is my favorite Bill Murray role right next to Rushmore. I think he's perfect as the complete a-hole bowler.
Check it out!
