The American President (1995)
As President, Andrew Shepherd (Douglas) is immensely popular (he has a 63% approval rating). As a man, he's a lonely father struggling to raise a daughter. His struggles multiply when his romance with lobbyist Sydney Ellen Wade (Bening) becomes fodder for both the press and a rival senator (Richard Dreyfuss)---precipitating a rapid drop in the polls. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112346/
Directed by: Rob Riener
Written By: Aaron Sorkin
Starring: Michael Douglas, Annette Bening, Martin Sheen, Michael J. Fox, Richard Dreyfuss
Fun Quote:
[Dancing at a state dinner] Sydney Ellen Wade: I don't know how you do it.
Andy: It's Arthur Murray. Six lessons.
Sydney Ellen Wade: That's not what I mean. Two hundred pairs of eyes are focused on you with two questions on their minds: who's this girl, and why is the President dancing with her?
Andy: Well, first of all, the two hundred pairs of eyes aren't focused on me. They're focused on you. And the answers are Sydney Ellen Wade, and because she said yes.

Definite chick flick. I like it because it's romantic yet I'm not pounded over the head with it. Great cast, great director. Definitely one of my favorite movies. I dont remember this movie getting rave reviews, but I think that's fine. It's a subtle punch of romance, comedy and politics.
