MESA! :thud:
heh - i just got around to watching this again - definitely a well done movie

i remember when I first watched it - a lot of hype, etc for the movie

it finally came out on video and we rented it in college - got through the first tape and we were hooked

threw in the 2nd tape ................. and it was some kind of home video - a party with some indian people ....... we took it back in, but it was a week wait for them to get in another copy of the movie that we could rent

by the time we watched the 2nd half we just weren't that into it anymore

even more disapointing, despite a full scan of the home video, there was absolutely no porn on it
Some people are just so rude. If you're going to put a home movie in instead of the actual film, have the decency to at least include some porn. Geez.

I remember liking it at the time. Now I remember it as Tom Hanks sappiness. :) Parts were good, I suppose. But sap nonetheless. And what was with the things flying out of people's mouths?

In a van...down by the river.
Chap referenced comparing this movie to Shawshank....IMO Shawshank is far superior to Green Mile.
I didn't read the novels. Green Mile was good but long winded. Shawshank was brilliant IMO.:)

I don't think you got the comparison. There are simiply a lot of similarities between the two movies, you can't deny that. Shawshank is the more technically competent of the two movies and probably the more satisfying ending. Green Mile, however, I think has a much more emotional climax. Performances are great all around in both films and it's not a coincidence that these two films are of non-horror Stephen King stories.

And that's not even to mention the same composer and several of the same actors being in both movies.

Finally saw this movie for the first time. While incredibly long, I didn't find myself looking at the clock much. I really liked the guards and how they treated their prisoners with respect (except for Percy... who played Tooms in The X-Files btw :D ) Anyway, very good movie, and I definitely cried near the end.

I might have to get this movie when I start buying blu-rays once I'm outta debt.
