Absolutely! Who doesn't want to be Malcom McDonald, going punk rock on the streets of London?

The difference, for me, is I know I'm not supposed to root for Alex. Who could? With The Godfather, I feel I'm supposed to be drawn in with some sort of catharsis, as if I secretly wished I had that kind of power or lived within that family structure. I get the impression that some people do, that it appeals to them, even though they know it's wrong. I guess I honestly don't. The whole mafioso fantasy misses me by a mile.

have you ever seen Goodfellas? If so, were you more or less drawn into it than the Godfather?

I like Mob movies and for some reason, this one just never really does it for me while I find Goodfellas mesmerizing.

I'm the exact opposite. I love the first 2 Godfather movies but Goodfellas, despite the stellar acting, does little for me. For me, the tone in Goodfellas is mean and petty but in Godfather it's heroic and larger than life. This is going to sound a little insane but if movies were actors, Godfather would be John Wayne and Goodfellas would be John Malkovich.

I like both movies, but they are intrinsically different. Goodfellas is about bad people being bad and The Godfather is about bad people and how they can be good but always comes back to being bad.

I have never and will never wanted to be that character in Clockwork Orange.

I haven't really ever wanted to be Michael Corleone either.

I suspect you don't like the Godfather because of all the Catholicism.

:) :)
