One of my top 5 favorite movies - a dry comedy from Rob Reiner that tells the tale of Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright Penn) and her true love Westly (Cary Elwes). The film has it all - kidnapping, swashbuckling pirates, evil princes, sword battles and of course, true love. The movie is done tongue-in-cheek, and I still laugh throughout it.

Excellent performances by Wright, Elwes, Christopher Guest, Mandy Patakin, Chris Sarandon, Wallace Shawn and a cast of cameos.

To not like this film is inconceivable!

There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours

In college, my group in a Public spekaing class used this flick to demonstrate the effects of persuasion.

I absolutely love this movie.

Is there a better movie? This is such a classic I don't know how many VHS tapes I wore about before it finally came out on DVD.

There are so many quotable lines from it - what a great choice for a Friday pick! I was just quoting this in an email yesterday and this morning. :)

"Have fun storming the castle"

Now I have to go home and watch it this evening.

Awesome movie, my wife's absolute favorite of all time.

We bought the dvd when it first came out (bare bones version) - anyone have the special edition, and know what extra features are on it?

I have both the bare bones and SE. I can't remember off the top of my head what is on it though - I'd have to look at it again.

Great movie!

One of my all time favorites as well. I bought this movie a couple months ago and introduced it to my kids. They love it as well. I think my daughter has watched it about 40 times in the past two months.

Peter Faulk is great as the grandfather.
A classic film for sure.

Without a doubt one of the greatest movies ever made - for any age - anyone who puts this movie on feels like a kid again - brilliant - absolutely brilliant - Wlliam Goldman and Rob Reiner at the absolute top of their games. I really can't tell you how much I adore this movie.

Aw yes, Fred Savage's finest film.

Absolutely love this movie. Action, comedy, romance, suspense - what's not to like?

On kind of a sad note, this was Andre the Giant's favorite film. He carried a copy of it with him always to show children that he wasn't a bad guy.

I don't think it's possible to see this movie and not love it. It even spans the generations like SirChaz says. It came out in the mid 80's, but when I taught 10th grade a couple of years ago it was one of my students' favorite movies. Truly a classic!

My favorite scene is when Wesley and The Sicilian are trying to get each other to drink the poison. I am cracking up just thinking about it!

This thread has inspired me to go out and buy the DVD. :)

*I went to Target and bought the DVD at lunch. Thanks Jon!
