I am the MAN...I am Wesley! 'Drop your sword!'

Is this because I dress comfortably, might hold a grudge, hate stupid people and would run from a fight if it were in my best interest? Lol

I'll echo the many sentiments here... this is a fantastic movie. My gf has never seen it and I had to play it for her and she absolutely loved it as well. It's full of great lines.

On a side note, has anyone read the book? The movie is pretty true to the book but (as always with book to film adaptations) there's much more imagery and detail in the book. The version I got was a 30th anniversary edition and it's got some running commentary by William Goldman and how he abridged the S.Morgensterns edition into what we all know. It's actually pretty funny and I implore all you fans to pick it up for a good light read. (Plus, it's a great book to read to kids, my Grade 7 teacher read it to us and we all were mesmerized).

Read it, and that was awhile ago.

One thing I remember from it was that the Pit of Dispair was more like some underground hunting area for Prince Humperdink...not just a tourture place.

I just rewatched this one last night with my kids. They hadn’t seen it before. Of course they loved it. My oldest was totally cracking up during the “My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die” part. I had forgotten how many funny parts there are. “Why are you smiling? Because I know something you don’t know. And what is that? I… am not left handed.”

"You ARE the brute squad."

"INCONCEIVABLE!!"

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Absolutely one of my all time favorites.

i was just telling someone about the book yesterday. it is in my top three of all time. i love the movie, but the book blows it out of the water. it's so funny, exactly my sense of humor. everything great about the movie is magnified in the book. and btw, there is no s. morgenstern. goldman made that all up, which only adds to the book's awesomeness. oh, and mike, that hunting ground for humperdink was one of my favorite parts of the book. after reading it, i was bummed by the way the movie portrayed it. i seriously cannot say enough about this book. go out and buy it today. you will be able to read it in one sitting, and then you can pass it on to your kids who will love it, too.

oh, and according to the quiz, i have an overdeveloped sense of vengeance. i'm count rugen.

I recently introduced this film to my 8 year-old daughter. She loved it of course.

One of my favorite exchanges of the film:

Prince Humperdinck: First things first, to the death.
Westley: No. To the pain.
Prince Humperdinck: I don't think I'm quite familiar with that phrase.
Westley: I'll explain and I'll use small words so that you'll be sure to understand, you warthog faced buffoon.
Prince Humperdinck: That may be the first time in my life a man has dared insult me.
Westley: It won't be the last. To the pain means the first thing you will lose will be your feet below the ankles. Then your hands at the wrists. Next your nose.
Prince Humperdinck: And then my tongue I suppose, I killed you too quickly the last time. A mistake I don't mean to duplicate tonight.
Westley: I wasn't finished. The next thing you will lose will be your left eye followed by your right.
Prince Humperdinck: And then my ears, I understand let's get on with it.
Westley: WRONG. Your ears you keep and I'll tell you why. So that every shriek of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish. Every babe that weeps at your approach, every woman who cries out, "Dear God! What is that thing," will echo in your perfect ears. That is what to the pain means. It means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery forever.
Prince Humperdinck: I think you're bluffing.
Westley: It's possible, Pig, I might be bluffing. It's conceivable, you miserable, vomitous mass, that I'm only lying here because I lack the strength to stand. But, then again... perhaps I have the strength after all.
[slowly rises and points sword directly at the prince]
Westley: DROP... YOUR... SWORD!
Prince Humperdinck: [Humperdinck's mouth hangs open, drops sword to floor]
