Rotten T. to the rescue:
SYNOPSIS
Centering on two minor characters from Shakespeare's Hamlet, two off-kilter rogues are summoned to the court of the King of Denmark, where they meet a traveling entertainer and attempt to solve a mystery. Based on Tom Stoppard's play, this film won Best Picture at the 1991 Venice Film Festival.
This movie is hilarious. The main cast consists of Richard Dreyfuss, Gary Oldman and Tom Stoppard, with Tom Stoppard directing. Very quick wit and really good writing. If you haven't seen it, then you may have a terrible time trying to get your hands on a copy to watch. Video stores quit carrying this movie several years back. I was lucky enough last year to find a 0 Region DVD for sale on Ebay. The entire packaging is done in Korean, but I bought it off some guy in Europe - go figure. Anyway, if you can find a way to get your hands on this movie I'd highly recommend it - especially if you are a fan of Shakespear. This movie is very smart and funny and the dialogue bettwen Rosencrantz and Guildenstern (played by Tom Stoppard and Gary Oldman) is so funny. One of the really funny parts about their characters is that you never really know which character either of them are - and neither do they - hilarious.
