I'm a fan of Willis and Jackson and I've already made it clear that I'm a comic-book fan, so it should be no surprise to any of you that I really like this movie.

Synopsis: After David Dunn (Willis) emerges from a horrific train crash as the sole survivor - and without a single scratch on him - he meets a mysterious stranger (Jackson). An unsettling stranger who believes comic book heroes walk the earth. A haunting stranger whose obsession with David will change David's life forever.

Some of the cast: Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Wright Penn, Spencer Treat Clark, and Charlayne Woodard.

M. Night Shyamalan's follow-up film to the blockbuster The Sixth Sense. Shyamalan even makes a cameo in this movie (as the stadium drug dealer).

I'm interested in seeing what others thought of this film. I know some who like it and some that didn't like it at all (like my own dad who gave me his 2 disc dvd of it, lol).

I thought this movie ruled, but I'm also a HUGE comic book fan. I saw this film as M. Knight's love letter to the comic book industry. Great performances all around, too.

Most people I know who didn't like this film never got into comics either. I think fans of the medium tended to appreciate this more than those who don't like comics or never got into them. JMO.

I loved the concept and really liked the entire movie up until the very end even though I knew that Sam Jackson was going to end up the bad guy in the end - don't ask me how - but it has something to do with a spoof that was running through my head during the entire movie where Sam Jackson would keep throwing Bruce Willis into cars, royally screwing him up, doing whatever he could to find him (hence him - well you know how it ends) And at the end Jackson would be bending over some ********** and fall on the ground, breaking into a zillion pieces and yelling - I missed her ass! To which David Dunn would reply - You're Mr. Ass? To which Elijah would reply in classic Sam Jackson mode - No Motherf*cker, I said - I MISSED - HER - ASS!" Then his own broken off testicle would roll into his mouth - but I digress.

I just didn't like that it was a movie that ended with text on screen telling us how it all played out - thast just bugged me - the scenes though where he realizes who he is at the Trainstation and in the house were awesome though.

There were some good parts, but the film itself is no better than mediocre, especially after The Sixth Sense. Acting is all right, but none of the actors really stretched their talent much.

Oh, and M. Night was HORRIBLE. He wants to be the next Hitchcock, but it ain't working. I've enjoyed all his movies (Unbreakable the least though), but none of them are even close to Vertigo, Rear Window and a dozen more Hitch films. At least Hitchcock only made an appearance, he didn't actually act in his movies, unlike Night, who is a horrible actor.

Oh man, this is just a rip-off of Superman and Spider-man, it all boils down to that...

Guy discovers powers, uses them for good, can we please have an original plot????

:D

I liked this movie a lot, it was so much different than normal super hero stuff.

This movie was ok.

I liked the comic book twist. Overall, I thought it was very slow moving and uninspired.
However, the concept, story, and visual "feel" were very good.

Most people I know who disliked it did so because of the pace, not the subject matter.

To a certain extent I agree, it was a really slow buildup, but I enjoyed it more because of it. It's a super hero movie that concentrates on character development rather than action which is kinda rare.

Unbreakable is probably my favorite of the 3 movies, with Signs as a close second. For some reason i didn't seem to like Sixth Sense as much as most others. It's probably because I watched much later than everyone else and it was overhyped for me.

Funny thing is with all the comic book talk I was wondering when someone would mention this movie.

Initially I didn't want to see this movie. I had no idea what it was about and thought it was going to be some religious type movie from the trailers. When I finally saw it I was surprised by how wrong I was. I actually enjoyed watching this one. Although it's not a movie that I will go out of my way to watch again.

Unbreakable definately "broke" in my mind. Somehow the DVD is in my DVD collection and I know I never bought it....anyway it was just not my cup of tea. I can't put it into words but I just didn't like it.

That could be one of the funniest things I've ever read on this board.

I rented this movie, watched it and took it to my grandmom to watch. She hated it and had nightmares for a week. I got yelled at by my mom.

I make bad choices.

I saw this movie, but I somehow blocked it out or something. Can't remember a thing about it.

I watched this a few years ago. I thought it was excellent. I'd definitely rewatch it if I stumbled upon it.

I also loved this movie. I think it was one of his most underrated films to date. It very much was an origin story told in a more believable way. I think this paved the way for some more recent origin stories we have seen on film lately.

I re-watched it recently. I had no idea the twist was coming the first time I watched it, so I had a different perspective this time. I still think it's an underrated film.

From the noise on the internet it sounds like they're still tossing around the idea of a sequel.

Looking back on this thread, my opinion of the movie has changed a lot since 2003. I actually agree that it is underrated, but that may be because M. Night's product after that film was so horrendous.
