I am huge movie fanatic as you know but I can't commit to a movie a day. Just impossible with 3 kids, their activities, my activities plus trying to keep up with my DVR/streaming.

I really do enjoy reading through the posts that people put up after though.
Did you read my post? It actually shouldn't be called a movie a day, it can be a movie a week or 10 movies a week, whatever.

But you don't have to worry, there doesn't seem to be any interest.

Sorry I misunderstood. Movie a week I can definitely handle. If you get enough interest I am in.

Maybe there's another way to do it, or something similar? Maybe do it by the week or month, and have multiple posters responsible for each period? So that if life catches up to someone they won't feel guilty if they can't fill their role. I know I look forward to this kind of thing even though I'm not capable of assuming any responsibility with the project.

One way or the other though, I'd love to see something, anything, that encourages activity in the TV and Movie forums.

That's actually what it is -- each participant gets a week. So say you get next week. You can post only one over the course of the entire week, or however many you want--like 10 in one day. It's up to you.

If you do it on a longer basis, like a person has a whole month, by week 4 there won't be anything.

One way or the other though, I'd love to see something, anything, that encourages activity in the TV and Movie forums.

There are other things I have found, but I've been hesitant to post them. I frequent another message board that is centered around DVDs and Blu-Rays, as well as all things entertainment, and they have some message board games that are very interesting that revolve around viewing movies in a month, as well as movie/tv trivia. I see it much more with movies than with TV, but both could be integrated in these "games".

Caveat is that I've never myself participated in any of these games, but they certainly do encourage participation and thought -- that's why I came up with Movie-A-Day back in, what was it, 2003?

Another thing is that we might not have as many posters in the movie/tv board, but those of us that are here, post a lot -- so it just seems like we have a lot of people. :)

No rules. Choose a movie, create a thread only about that movie -- generally older ones are better because newer ones already have their own threads. However, since it is strictly an opinion-driven thread, creating a new one that is spoiler-free isn't a big deal, IMO.

Like for example, creating one for The Avengers. We know that BIM had made a thread a while ago for it for the theatrical release, but IMO it isn't a big deal to create a new one for Movie-A-Day (or another name if anybody has any ideas). You can do a search and see other examples when we did it before. There is even a thread that BIM (I think) had made that compiled all the already-made Movie-A-Day threads. There are 405 movies already on it, but I don't think there is a problem with repeats (although I suggest movies that AREN'T on that list).

I like it a lot and would enjoy reading about it. I only have not chimed in as I do not watch a lot of movies due to time constraints.

Ha! :) I actually write plenty positive here and on the TV forum, but those go unremarked upon.

not true. I usually remark on how weird your taste is for the movies you actually like!

Just throwing this out there--we seem to have a pretty good stable of participants in the movie board. Anybody interested in doing Movie-A-Day again? In this case, we'd probably make it more casual, assign weeks and you can do as many movies you want, if it's only one over the whole week, that's fine. Or you can do 10, if that's what you'd like. Just throwing it out there--it was a really great way to revisit movies you loved or introduce obscure ones to a lot of us...

LOL, looking at previous threads, it looks like we have 5 year gaps between when we do these, so in 2016, we're due. :)

You know you can count me in. :D

I actually have a huge backlog of movies I've seen that I haven't had a chance to research yet. I always like to read through the cast list, read the trivia, look up the shooting location and other stuff before posting about it here.
