the creator of this show is very smart. he's not just writing, but directing episodes as well. that's pretty unheard of in TV. I've got to believe he knows who his audience is here and is playing with us, making us think there's a really good chance this is Byte Club, but ultimately reveals Mr. Robot to be real... at least, that's what I hope is going on.

Yeah but that would just boil down to misdirection with very little payoff. Pretty stupid IMO and it would in retrospect make all the interest and paying attention to each episode be useless.

I hope it has a better twist than basically......psych.

The two big surprises were huge this last episode. I didn't see either one coming.

Really really love this show. 97% on rotten tomatoes btw.

OK, so the big reveals I didn't see coming.

Mr. Robot didn't look a day older than he did in the photos. So, I guess that mystery is now solved. A compensation for the lack of his father in his life. He should look MUCH older versus the photos if he was still alive today. He looks exactly the same which is a dead giveaway that Mr. Robot is now a confirmed manifestation of Elliot's mind.

The sister thing? I never saw it coming. Neither did I see it coming that MR. Robot persona had something going on with Tyrell and that he knew more than he was letting on. I think it reveals Tyrell is fully aware of Elliot's multiple personalities. It also reveals that when Mr. Robot is in control he also might be self-aware in that state of his own multiple personalities.

Well, I guess tonights episode threw that theory out the door....

wha? Last night's episode seemed to completely confirm that Mr. Robot IS the split personality who comes to Elliot in his father's form. I like the twist that Robot was the father, but still saw that coming from a mile away.

Other twists that I liked though... that Tyrell is somehow involved with Robot and the sister thing. Both nice twists.

I guess now it just seems too obvious for Mr Robot to be a manifestation, which is why I don't think he is anymore.

Two more episodes, so we'll see.

I just hope this doesn't go down the Lost path. That was good for the first couple of seasons and then went all stupid.

I just don't see how he's anything but. I mean, is his dad REALLY alive? if he is, why is it that he doesn't really look anything close to 17 years older? And multiple people have commented on him dying. I just don't see how he could have pulled off that incredible of a hoax to fake his own death.

I don't see how that is possible. Unless part of this show is finding the fountain of youth. He didn't age a day.

Do we need to keep doing spoilers since the show already aired 2 days ago? :biglaugh:

Go back and watch, I think in most of the photos he does look younger - more hair, less grey scruff.

Even if he died at 30 and is now 47, he might not look too much older with some grey.

Anyway, Slater sure looks like he's had work, so I don't know if they can make him look older. ;)

Not everybody watches their shows during the week. So, that's why I use them. At any rate, I did re-watch the episode and he definitely looks exactly the same. In fact, when you watch the episode again, you can clearly see that it's the current version of him IMO. Now ofcourse shows all the time do stupid things and don't account for accuracy or that nobody will notice certain things. It could very well be they don't anticipate anybody questioning his age and he is real. However, that doesn't seem to gibe with the shows attention to detail (hacking for example).

Instead of being schizo and manifesting personalities, maybe Elliiot is in a Fugue state? Just a thought, but could easily explain the sister thing.

They both have similar traits. It very well could be.

Seriously the Pixies 'Where is my Mind' at the end? Really Esmail? Yeesh

a clear nod to Fight Club, who used the exact same song at the end of the movie.

kinda sucks... saw the major twist coming from the first episode. I go back and forth in my head if Esmail wanted people to see the twist coming. still a really good show though.

I think most people had seen this coming from the 1st episode although I know of very few people that figured it was his father or that one of the members of his hacking crew was his sister.

What is going to be interesting is to see where this goes from here. After tonight's episode you have to think things are going to get very twisted with Mr. Strangles burrowing his way in with Elliot.

As a fan of Fight Club I marked out for the song. It has been in my head for the last like 4 episodes.

Correct. I didn't believe Mr Robot was real, but didn't get it was his dad. Definitely didn't get the sister part.

Yeah, I get the Pixies was a nod to FC. IMO, they made a mistake revealing his dad being what he is. It's becoming too predictable and aside from the Tyrell/Elliot connection, I'm curious how they'll carry this to a season 2.

Question, do you watch the 7p, 10p or online version?

Something interesting I hadn't noticed before is that there was dialog cut out of the 10p re-air compared to the 7p version. I just happened to catch both last night and noticed the differences. Nothing major cut out, but maybe 60-70sec cut out in the bottom half of the hour. I wonder if USA does this to get back on track time-wise so shows start at the top of the hour for re-airs.

I haven't watch the online version yet.

I DVR it and watch it later
