On an earlier thread, I posted a response to a couple of Fox naysayers which I think may be more appropriate here.
The (can't win for losing) criticism by Prisco and Judge was that the Cardinals were rolling heavy dice on one player who's absorbed a lot of hits during his first 7 years thereby increasing the risk of injury.
In the past, the Cardinals never rolled the dice. They'd simply pass on high upside/high downside propositions, played what they thought were the percentages and remained chronically lodged in the lowliest quartile of the NFL.
Unless you occasionally take a shot at the gold, you will never get any gold.
A year ago, the pundits were cautioning against gambling on the health of Jamal Lewis, Shawn Alexander and Edgerrin James. The pundits were wrong.
We should remember that Football is not a game of certainty. It is a game of probability and possibility. You line up the circumstances, take your best shot and don't blink.
We don't know for sure that Edgerrin will survive another 4 years of pounding (let alone one), but the time was right for taking a shot at glory, and the Bidwills stepped up to the plate and, in my opinion, made the right move.
There's no certainty that the move will prove successful. (We still have an offensive line to make competant). There's only the probability. It was a move the Cardinals had to make. And for, once, they made it. (No guts no glory).
Meanwhile, for better or for worse, let's enjoy the ride.
