Cheese, if you are going to argue that the MVP is most valuable to the league, then you are barking up the wrong tree with Nash. Kobe is by far the most valuable player to the NBA. HANDS DOWN.
Nash may have an argument for being the MVP of his team, and since his team did very well, that's why he won it. But nobody tunes in to see a Nash game. Even you haters want to watch a Kobe game...for whatever twisted reason. From an NBA perspective, the best player and most valuable TO THE LEAGUE is Kobe. LeBron is the ONLY other viable candidate in that realm.
I sure hope the Suns win the NBA title, so we can finally stop hearing about how your team is so terrible, and how you guys suck, and how you only have 3/5 your team on the court. You're a very different team without Amare, and frankly, I think you are more dangerous. Blasphemous? Sure, but you play small ball to perfection and that wins you games. Are you proud of your team or aren't you? You keep wanting to bash your supporting cast, when they are pretty damn good. I'd take all of them but Raja (he's an *****) in a heartbeat. You can't be seven wins from a title and still yammering on about how your team really sucks and is overachieving. Tayshawn Prince, Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups...those names didn't scare anyone either a few years ago. STOP. WHINING. ABOUT. YOUR. TEAM. They are highly talented, can stroke it and play with a lot of heart.
A couple of points of clarification....
1. You are SEVEN wins from an NBA championship, not 3. You are 3 from the finals...I know you guys are new to this, but you don't get parades or banners for making the Finals. Unless you are Sacramento, where you get both for winning the division.
2. Don't act like your team is so freaking high and mighty, and as if you swept the Lakers. You are one rebound/TT miss away/Kobe make in the last 10 seconds of Game 6, Round One from being on the opposite side of some idiot screaming in your face words very similar to the ones you just posted.
D-DOG - i love ya brother, but you're totally out to lunch on everything int he above. So now the MVP isn't about basketball, but it's about MARKETING? That's who should win the MVP - the guy who people want to watch the most? And is that EVEN REMOTELY TRUE? Tell me D-Dogg, what series in the last two years have gotten the best cable ratings in the playoffs? I believe they were Suns v. Lakers and, wait for it... Mavs v. SUNS - how can that be? NO one wants to watch Syteve Nash? It's just a HUGE coincidence that those two series were the top rated cable series, right? It really does make sense that you're a Laker fan - you're just like all the angelenos out here - concerned about one thing and one thing only - appearance on the outside - sorry, buddy, but the MVP is about B-ball, not who draws attention from the mass of stupidity that is our country. And Kobe is the MVP TO the league? If that's the case, why are rating STILL soaring without him in the postseason - surely without his highness, they should be plummeting without him, correct? And since when is the MVP about value TO the league - it's value WITHIN the league - it's about WINNING - period. It always has been, always will be, but again - you sound like a born angeleno who cares about one thing - appearance and winning be damned, but hey, that's okay - KObe enjoys this basketball the most out of his career apparently - socring titles and all rather than Titles, so I guess when he's your role model, it makes sense.
And genius of marketing - tell me this - if Kobe is SOOOOO great, tell me why the Lakers v. Suns series was rated LOWER than the Suns v. Clippers series in LOS ANGELES - did you know that one, smart guy? Do you realize that Lebron hgas brought people back to basketball, the Mavs have brought people back to basketball and, oh yeah, the SUNS have brought people back to basketball (see the cable rating for Suns v. Mavs last year or Game 4 v. the Spurs last year, or our rating versus the Lakers this year and even our rating in the Suns v. Clippers - were, unbelievably WERE HIGH IN LA THAN TYHE SUNS V. LAKERS SERIES - BUT YEAH, IT'S ALL KObe Bryant, especially when you consider how rating plummetted after Jordan left when Shaq and Kobe were winning titles. Another good call. Kobe's merely a part of the gorlious mix of ALL NBA playoffs that is bringing people back to the game - period. Regardless, your an idiot for bringing that point up in the MVP discussion and you know it.
I mean, if that was really the case - after Jordan retired and Barkley was THE superstar in the NBA, why didn't he win it in back to back years in Jordan's absence? How could they give it to guys like Hakeem and Robinson who brought nothing to the game outside the court?
And better without Amare? Again - you are just going to show how little you know about basketball. We can beat the Mavs with this squad, when healthy, and we can beat the Heat, but there's no way we can beat the Pistons or the Spurs without Amare - and with him - we WILL DOMINATE EVERYONE - I know that scares you, but you just have to deal with it.
As far as "whining about my team" - give me break - there's no doubt this is the GUTTIEST team the NBA has seen in a LOOOOOOOONG time, but give me a freaking break if I'm realistic about the talent on this squad and what thjey were pre and post Nash. You can't argue with the stats, or argue with the way they COMPLETELY fall apart when he's out of the game, or how they struggle to win if he's not 100% - that's not whining - it's called knowing your team.
And as far as comparing this team to the Pistons - again - you're smoking crack - that team had been to the Conference Finals the year before they got to the Title - People knew who Chauncy, Rip, Ben Wallace and Rasheed Wallace before that year - they were one of the FAVORITES to get to the Finals, if not THE FAVORITE after they got Rasheed, so any comparison between them and us, is pretty ridiculous, considering from last year's squad we have TWO guys who played in the Conference Finals and were considered left for dead when Amare went out and then left for dead AGAIN when Kurt went out.
But why stop there? You just keep on digging... next - how am I acting HIGH AND MIGHTY while at the same time disparaging what this team has to work with - pick one or the other here, dude, otherwise, you like a jackass (or better put, Renz).
And as far aas your point of clarification - well, yeah, I MISSED a word when I first said 3 games away fromt he NBA CHAMPIONSHIP (the word was ROUND), but if you had enough reading comprehension skills, you'd notice that at the end of that paragraph, in PLAIN enlgish, I say we're 3 games away from the Finals - but hey, you got me there! Kudos to you for noticing I left a word out - now back to our regularly scheudle D-dogg/Renz ass-kicking...
I get it - the Lakers are somehow going to get "something good" for Chris Mihm (a soft white, injury prone seven footer) and sign someone with their MLE, although they haven't been able to do so since Kupcake, Kobe and Buss ran Shaq out of LA (which WAS the right move, but just sucked so piss poorly in it's execution, it was laughable). When I realize that you ACTUALLY believe the above, your post makes perfect sense... you live in Laker myopia - it's okay - it's what fans of EVERY bad-mediocre team with no hope does (and I know this being a Jason-Kidd Suns fan for years)... so I'll leave you with this... get a good night's rest, stick your thumb in your mouth, while wishing it was something (and someONE) elses, and put your dreamcatcher up to push away the nightmare that is reality... finally the Sun rising in the west.
We've had to deal with the Laker crap for years, but turnabout's fair play and I'm loving every minute of it.
