It has now been confirmed by a friend in the NFL offices that we draft #41 in round two.

Sorry to all that I questioned in this regard.

DRAFT ORDER Question? WAIT A MINUTE!!!!

Why is Detroit picking before us.. I thought Head to head was the first tie- breaker, and they beat us... SO WHY ARE WE NOT PICKING #9 ahead of the Lions?????

Each year, draft order numbers are thrown around like frisbees - and usually from excellent sources. That's why - good sources & intentions - I always hedge on precise draft order after the first round until the League issues an official statement.

I will, therefore, continue to make vague allusions to our "#40 - 42" pick in round 2.

Things get even fuzzier during rounds 3 - 7 due to the Supplemental picks awarded to teams for free agents picked up vs. lost. For those of you who only casually follow the draft - a bunch of supplemental picks at the end of a round can turn, say, a "normal" #84 pick into something like a #90. (Bummer!)

That's why the wisest course of action when setting up 7-round mocks is to be patient and wait for the official list.

Note Word of Caution #2: Contain your optimism over prospective Cardinal supplemental picks. Those of us who try to figure this out in advance are always disappointed - we'll get fewer and worse picks than we expect - if, in fact, we get any at all. Same deal every year.

Head to head matchups do not decide anything when determining draft order.

• The rest of the teams are placed in order from lowest winning percentage to the highest.

• Strength of schedule for the previous season is the first tie-breaker for teams with the same winning percentage.

• Divisional and conference records are the next step in the tie-breaking procedure.

• As a last resort, a coin toss is used to determine the order of selection for teams with the same winning percentage.

Spanky,

There is no need to apologize for an honest mistake. Especially one that was only a difference of 1 pick.

We signed more qualifing FA's then we lost Qualifing FA's.

The only way we can get a supp. pick is if after handing out all of the supp picks they are still not at the needed 255 picks according to the NFLPA. For example if after handing out the Supp picks they are only sitting at 245 total picks they will then hand out the remaining 10 needed picks to the top 10 teams of the 1st round, giving us the last pick in the 7th round. But that is very rare to need 10 more picks, usually they only need 3-5 more picks giving the top 3 to top 5 teams of the first round a shot at another pick at the end of the 7th round.

Regardless, as he was saying, supplemental picks will change our draft order. Supplemental picks for other teams from the 3rd round on will change our 4-7th round picks.
