The Cardinals (read Kingsbury) didn't make Murray an integral part of the running game until after Baltimore's Jackson torched them. It is a desperation move that greatly ups the odds of Murray getting injured.

That is not a desperation move, it's rather called taking the kid gloves off your athletic QB :)

Regardless of whether you have a 6'5" QB or a Murray/Wilson version, you cringe every time your QB gets hit. He did take more chances running the ball against Cincy, and it amounted to more yards & a win. But, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous on a few of those tackles. I'd rather he slide a few yards in advance of where he actually did.

I will say that I think he should have got that touchdown instead of sliding down at the 3 yard line. He could have ran into his blockers back and pushed forward.

I disagree. That's exactly how Wentz got hurt his rookie season. Luckily for the Eagles, Foles then led them to a SB Championship.

Do you think Kyler gets caught by the safety or scores as well?

My money would be Murray taking it to the house. Murray certainly has the breakaway speed to do it.

I get ya. Just was surprised he was caught on that play against the Bengals. Then again that could be because he ran more than 40 yards (once you add the cuts). At OU Lincoln Riley said Hollywood Brown could definitely beat Kyler in the 100, but it'd be a pick em in the 40.

Kyler might be one of those guys that breaks the 20 to 30 yard runs, but not the 50 to 60 yarders.

His change of direction is still pretty great.

Rookie Year Redzone Passing Stats:

Russell in 2012: 34/59 57.6% 18TD's. 0 INT's.
Kyler in 2019 through 5 games: 16/29 55.2% 3TD. 0 INT's. On pace for 51/92 10 TD's 0 INT's.

I think there is precedent for improvement here if we all just exercise some patience. Russell got much better as his season rolled along.
The element of him taking off and easily getting into the end zone on a scramble will help open things up as well..just like Russell Wilson's throw the other night against the Rams at the end of the game. I knew it was coming..and think Kyler will get there at some point too.

And the funny thing is... That is what I think could make him more dangerous. You give me a fast QB that can throw vs a quick one, I'll take that quick one every time. Just like Russell Wilson evading the pass rush on a dime.

P.s. That's only like my 500th post comparing the two..haha i guess it's my only true example, so I just have to go with it at this point. Lol.

In terms of running I think by running smarter he'll be running safer.

Sometimes he ran into sacks early in the season because he didn't step up in the pocket.

Well if we're running him then he has to display better vision/not be afraid to run up the middle on designed plays.

Ran into a tackle instead of cutting up the middle where he probably could slide easily after getting big yards

We won and he had his best game of the season by attacking the middle of defense in terms running and throwing. I think his instinct is to run outside, but if he commits to being a threat from all parts of the field he'll be tough...assuming he can still hold up.
