Call me nuts but I think Matt Jones goes in round 1. Every board for every team has similar hopes for drafting Jones and/or McPherson. Everybody knows about them now and some presently good team will reach for those guys early.

I just don't see us drafting either one. We need 2 CB, 2 RB, TE, DT, and a kick returner. We aren't good enough to take a chance on projects.

I just have 2 words to say about Matt Jones and his vault up the charts since his "off the board" Combine drills:

"Leeland McElroy"

Fabian Washington won't be there when the Cards pick in the 2nd

I think that there's a 60/40 chance that he won't be there when the Cards pick in the 2nd. There's a 0% chance that he'll be there when the Cards pick in the third.

Whatever teams take Matt Jones or Adrian McPherson before round 3 are making a HUGE mistake. Established players at both positions are still going to be available deep into the first two rounds.

Why do you think we need two RBs? I think with Shipp, Hambrick, Croom and Anderson on the roster, we'll be set with one...tho if we do take 2 the second one (if not the first) will be in the mold of a KR/PR also, ala Sproles).

Because Marcel Shipp isn't going to make it out of Training Camp, and both Croom and Anderson are kind of stiffs.

Croom and Anderson are stiff when held up to starters, but they're okay for 3rd string.

If shipp doesn't make it out of camp it's because we did bring in more than one back this offseason and his salary doesn't justify keeping him on the bench behind New Guy 1, New Guy 2 and Hambrick. Shipp is a very good backup RB, IMO.

Shipp is a pretty average starting RB. He was a very good backup before he had that ghastly injury, but now he's a total question mark. If you get Travis Henry (who is Marcel Shipp if he were a legitimate starter) and Darren Sproles in the draft, then Shipp doesn't have a role at all in this offense, and would get bounced. If you end up with a high-profile RB and a change of pace guy, Marcel's out on the street.

Honestly, I think that the re-signing of Hambrick basically ended Shipp's career as a Cardinal (maybe altogether). Shipp isn't the power back that many here seem to think he is, he doesn't have a nose for the end zone, and he's not a premire receiving target. What does he bring to the table? He's a good Nick Goings-type third back, but I'd rather have a Henry and Sproles than Shipp kept around for sentimental reasons.

Trust me, I dont want him around for sentimental reasons--the memories of Shipp starting aren't particularly good ones. I think he's a good back to have on the squad, is all. I think if we bring in one RB, he stays. If we aquire two, he gets squeezed out.

Nothing. But Troy Hambrick doesn't bring anything to the table that Shipp can't, either.

I could live with that, but I think we might be able to do better than Perkins for a CB in the 3rd. Maybe not, though.

See, I disagree. I think that Hambrick brings a stronger short-yardage presence, and a better nose for the endzone. I also think that Hambrick practices better ball security than Shipp can/does, especially inside the five yard line.

I picked Perkins in the third round because of his ability to return kicks and play some WR, he did it in college.
