With the exception of Offensive Center------the ones look impressive, both O and D.
TE appears to be on its way to being a strength on this team. Nice to see.
Minter and Demens looked up to handling the inside backers jobs really solid as fillers and run stoppers.
Palmer was magnificent today. Placing the ball into very tiny windows with authority and confidence.
O-line pass protection very good with the ones. Not bad with the twos. Humphries looks to be the real deal.
Run blocking needs work and continuity.
Center seems weak with Shipley seeming to be the most solid. I think this line needs a tougher meaner Center to anchor this O-line. Shipley and Sendlein appear at least adequate, but no one to write home about.
Ellington had a nice day-----was very sharp receiving out of the backfield, and was quick and decisive when given a hole to run thru. Kerwin Williams was impressively quick up the middle and found cracks to get thru.
Defensive Ones were very impressive---------HB is back, Daone and Bethel looked very solid in the secondary with HB----------D-line ones were rock solid, and got some pressure without blitzing.
Defensive twos and threes were mostly disorganized and soft. Thirty one unanswered points given up was a disgrace and I am happy that this came in our first pre-season game. BA can remove his boot from Knee Deep and begin applying it to defensive twos and threes.
Rookies that impressed me, Humphries, Gunter.
Biggest surprise ------ Logan Thomas. He appeared to be solidly into this game and WAS impressive with both his mental discipline and his physical abilities. Made good decisions with the ball in his hands. Should have had scores if not for dropped passes, or missed reads by receivers like the failure of one back to recognize that he was hot and needed to be looking for the ball way more quickly. Thomas appears to be benefiting from the futuristic virtual football system recently purchased. He can get reps by putting the head set on and seeing exactly what was happening around the QB on any game or practice play actually run. He seemed to be well on top of his game today. I was impressed with his decision making and his footwork.
