Hypo-----I have always admired your thoughtful posts here, and this is one of the very best.

I too agree with keeping Whiz, and like the idea of bringing in Kubiak, Lewis and Crist. I also like your thinking of going after the players in FA and the Draft that you have proposed. If we could accomplish just half of what you have proposed, we would have gone a long way to rectifying the mess that we are currently in. I would add another draft pick for QB, (Newton is intriguing to me). Great stuff, and it shows a lot of thought. I commend you sir.

The Cards just had a huge shakeup in personnel and positions and that is what led to the current mess.

The draft isn't going to help us next year because those guys won't play in 2011 unless somebody is hurt.

The only thing that will help this team in the short term is for the guys we have who are seriously underachieving to step up and play some football.

It was a very interesting take on what could happen. I'm thinking we need a running back badly. Hightower can be (Too many fumbles) a solid third down back. Wells is always hurt. The hyphen is very special on special teams ,but not strong enough to play many snaps.

Coaching changes are going to happen. Whiz is a very bright man. That being said I don't think he will give up on calling plays. Even when Halley was here he had a lot to say what we do. Fixing the QB position will go a long way in fixing the offense. I prefere someone who has been there. I like Orton as your choice. But I see more movemnet at the QB position as the top 2-3 QB picks will certainly change QB depth on those teams.

Keep writing, you have are very detailed and it's enjoyable to read.

Hightower can be (Too many fumbles) a solid third down back.

Hightower is a solid "third down" back. Meaning he is very good in passing and short yardage situations. He has also shown he is not a guy who can be the featured back with 15-20 carries a game over the course of a season.

Wells is done.

The Cards need to be looking for another RB right now.

Sad isn't it that the Cards used a first round pick on a QB and a RB in just 4 years and we're talking about having to get new players at both positions.

Hightower drops too many passes, too. He dropped the highest percentage of passes in the NFL last season, and he's got to be pretty close this season, as well. Balls have been bouncing right off his hands.

And he isn't really shifty, elusive, quick, or fast like a decent 3rd down back. (despite what Billick says about him)

You forgot just one thing, a new Oline coach.

Good point...thanks for pointing my oversight out.

Dave Magazu is a proven coach, working with Carolina. He might get the axe assuming Fox leaves.

John Benton is another guy that could come over with Kub's from Houston. Not quite as successful as Magazu but had less talent to work with.

You think Bidwill will pay current HCs Lewis and Kubiak what they would want? You think those coaches would come to AZ to work for Bidwill? Bidwill just eats the current coaches contracts?

Never said I think this is what Bidwill will do...that's why I titled this thread My Offseason Overhaul :D

Considering we have a top 5 paid coaching staff I see no reason why they wouldn't if those guys took the place of Grimm's huge salary, Davis, and the Passing Game Coordinator Mike Miller.

As for Kubiak it is highly doubtful. Isn't his philosophy a zone blocking scheme? Don't think Wiz will go for that.

Here is what I am hoping for. Someone finally decides to give Grimm a HC job.

Also considering Quinn as a pick in the draft. I hate the guy with a passion. Medical issues, character issues, horrible run defender, hates contact. Thehuddlereport got this one right when they stated that his agent is doing an awesome job of getting early draft prognosticators to buy into what he is selling. This guy will be Aaron Maybin part 2.

Yeah, I agree Kubiak will be highly doubtful but I'd still love to see it happen. Whis doesn't go for the zone blocking scheme but personally its my favorite.

As for Quinn...He's only had one incident that would raise flags for character concern. Other than speaking with an agent before he should've he's been a stand up guy. His benign brain tumor has left no shunts in his brain and multiple doctors have said it won't have adverse effects on his athletic career. I haven't seen him play soft in any of the film I've seen on him. I see him play excellent contain for the most part, being where he's supposed to be. He has played good team defense rather than great individual play.

Those two have been highly regarded prospects since they were in high school. Both were first round picks, IIRC. He didnt exactly find diamonds in the rough. Only RB coach id be interested in would be Tiki Barber.

You're right, they were highly regarded prospects. But even the highest collegiate prospects still need good coaching for the most part in the NFL :p

One slight thing you might want to redo. The Cardinals do not have a 7th rounder this year. We received a 6th rounder from Philly for Wells.
This pick is not Phillys orginal pick, it's from TB. So we get TB 6th rounder.

Why would you get a FA SS then draft one? A-dub will be here for another 2-3 yrs and there is no room for 2 extra SS. 1 yes 2 no.

You're very right...just change my 7th to a 6th and we'll be square :p

As for picking another SS...I like to have my depth in tow and ready to go with knowledge of the system. I don't foresee Adub here for much longer...and heck...I might even be quietly shopping him this offseason to see what I could get for him. Doesn't mean I'd trade him unless I was made an offer I just couldn't refuse. ;)

But then he breaks off a 50 or 80 yard TD run which almost no other RB in the last 10-20 years has done.

Is he a Running Back or an Enigma?

Yes, you are right, the next Marshall Faulk he is.

Clarification:

Choice A. Running Back
Choice B. Enigma

There were no choices for "the next Marshall Faulk".

Dang kids just won't read the tests.
