After watching all the games this pre-season and seeing our cuts yesterday, I think this is what the Cards will do.

Gabe Martin made a real push the last two games and to me was barely beat out by Alani Fua. I think he makes the practice squad.

Harold Jones-Quartey was a hitting and tackling machine this pre-season. If it wasn't for us being so strong at safety I think he would have made the team. I can't see us not putting him on the practice squad.

Cariel Brooks I thought did enough for the Cards to keep him around. We are so thin at CB that I think Brooks makes the practice squad and we go out and sign one or two other corners.

I hope we sign Kerwynn Williams for the practice squad. He was not only a good RB but I thought he was our best kick returner as well.

Anthony Steen- He showed me enough to say I think he should be our future center. give him another year to mature and I can see him taking over the job next season. He's stronger and younger than both Sendlein and Shipley. At the very least he should be our backup.

Jaxson Shipley played well and knows the offense. Can fill in as a returner and be that fifth receiver in case of injuries.

Logan Thomas- I am not ready to give up on him yet. He made steady progress this pre-season and looked pretty good against Denver. We all knew he was going to be a project and since we can keep ten players on the practice squad I would keep him.

I think we will sign two or three guys from other teams to fill out the rest of our practice squad.

Snakester, I agree with most of your PS, except for LT. As I've said before, with three QB's on the '53', no need for one on the PS. All of your other picks look good to me. My one dark horse candidate is Antoine McClain, though I'm not sure if he is PS eligible.

I'm still upset we kept Golden over Shipley.

I don't agree with that decision at all.

Center Reese Dismukes cut by the Steelers and LB Taiwan Jones by the Jets.

The Logan Thomas situation is off putting. Who the hell drafts a developmental QB and gives him 1 season to develop while he shows he's developing?

Maybe he didn't show enough in practice.

Tough for fans that don't have access to all that goes into a decision to make assumptions about development.

This. LT has had a pretty limited time in preseason to show the coaching staff he belongs, but he has had a lot of practice time to show it and from all reports I had heard LT was not doing well in practices.

Nicely done Snakester. I believe that the actual practice squad will be very much like your predictions. All those you listed are worthy of being on the practice squad. I would be stunned if the Cards did not at least try to get Logan Thomas on it, as he seems to me to be well on his way to becoming what they were looking for in a QBOF. Another year on the PS and another pre-season like this one just completed, and he might be ready to replace Stanton as Palmer's back-up.

I'm with you on this. Also there is the possibility LT could play the TE position down the road if it doesn't work out at QB. LT has all the physical tools for both positions.

I so agree with this. I am waiting to see what happens today before I write a thread about it.

I agree with this. I think this staff is somewhat over-emphatuated with speed. We really have only one chain mover on the WR corps, and that is Larry. The rest of the guys are all vertical threats first.

The logic I think they used is the 5th WR is unlikely to see the field as a WR. I can't remember for sure, but I think Golden is the gunner opposite Bethel. And if you can sneak Shipley onto the practice squad, you can still develop him. Then you activate him if one of the other guys goes down.

The staff has determined that Logan Thomas stinks. That was apparent as soon as our starting playoff QB was a man that was plucked off another teams practice squad.

Maybe BA is finally seeing that accuracy and brains cannot be taught. They brought in a cerebral guy with good accuracy, though Barkley's arm is apparently fairly weak by NFL standards. Maybe BA finally realizes that is actually a better fit for his system than strong armed guys who can't hit open receivers.

Which part of 9/10 for 116 yards and 1 TD stunk to you, VT? How much of that looked brainless, inaccurate and stupid?

How about the week before: 3/5 for 65 yards and leading the GW TD?

Mitch I'll give you JT looked better this year, but wasn't most of that done against 3-4 string guys, most of whom are looking for jobs starting Monday?

I'm sure much of the decision was more than just game tape. What happened to in BASK we trust?

I think this proves the decision was made last January. So much for the developmental 2-3 year project that BA billed it as when spending a 4th rounder on him.

Thomas looked good in 3 of the 4 PS games this year. He played the whole second half versus the Broncos and brought the team from behind on the road, going 9/10 116 yards. I give him a ton of credit for that.

If we had traded for Mike Glennon, I get it. But, Matt Barkley? Worst of all, we now have Matt Barkley running the scout team? He doesn't have NFL arm strength---how is the defense going to prepare for Drew Brees and the likes?

This one is on BA, not SK. Thomas was BA's pick and SK gave it to him.

+1

Wonder what the coaching staff sees in MB?

Mike Glennon would be a good fit in BA's offense. We all know he was available, but a high draft pick and SK won't give those up.

I don't get the gnashing of teeth over someone who was never going to see the field or be our QBOF. Let's move on and trust BASK. They have pushed most of the right buttons these last 2 years. They deserve to punt if they like something better. Losing HJQ sucks, but we knew some of our cuts were going to be claimed. That's why we have depth.

Your about LT. It looks like we will just have Barkley.
