Started up my 360 on Halloween night, says I need an update....it updates, then freezes up. So I turn it off, then on, and I get the infamous ring of death. Thanks MS. This could be the death of the 360. If I have to put in one cent to fix this, after all of the coin I've alrady spent on games and accessories, I will be pissed, so pissed in fact that I'll sell all my games and accesories on ebay, and then throw this POS in the trash. Let's see..."Spend $400 and get 6 months of gaming before your system dies"...sounds like a great marketing tool for Sony and Nintendo.

Well, I just got off the phone from XBOX and they tell me that they will fix it for $104. Whoopdefreaking doo. They say that if and when they determine it was the update, they will reimburse me. By that time the replacement console will be on Craig's List or Ebay. My biggest problem is that they know this is a reoccurring problem and they should replace any and all systems. It isn't like this is a freak occurence, this is a trend. THE SYSTEM HASN'T EVEN BEEN OUT A YEAR!!!!!!!!!!! I had the original Xbox, the Playstation 1 and 2, the Dreamcast, NES, SNES, and I have never had one die period, let alone experience a major epidemic like this. Thanks a lot MS. You have lost a loyal XBOX player.

104 dollars? After the thing sold for over 300? What a huge crock of ****.

$399 for the system
$50 extra controller
$40 xbox live vision
$59 FIFA World Cup
$59 Madden
$59 NCAA
$59 NHL
$59 Fight Night RD 3
$50 xbox live subscription

my list of original xbox purchases is waaaaay longer. They want to lose a LOYAL customer over $104..for an XBOX they killed. The issue is whether or not the update killed my machine. They are trying to tell me because I got three red lights instead of am error message, by machine coincidently died at the exact moment the update installed, and they cant replace it for free and they are admitting that the update killed thousands of machines, but that the way it kills it gives an error message and lights up one red light. Funny how they know this update was a major problem, and in March a similar update killed off thousands of machines, but my particular machine had nothing to do with the update. I am beyond pissed right now. What a scam.

Tomorrow is round 2, where I make one last call, then send an email. Bring on the wii.

Here's hoping that you switch to the Wii.

All the consoles have horrid customer service. Never buy a console in the first couple months of its release, theres a very good chance it could be a dud. And if you do buy it soon after release, buy it from some place that offers a year warranty for something like $20 on it.
