(Steve) Nash, who recently signed a two-year, $22 million contract extension to stay with Phoenix through the 2011-12 season, is confident another Suns star won't be traded. Amare Stoudemire has been the subject of plenty of rumors -- the forward has one year left on his contract and wants the maximum in any new deal, something the budget-conscious Suns may not be willing to do.

"I don't see him leaving," Nash said. "I just see him having a phenomenal career and being in Phoenix a long time."

I don't think Nash brought Shaq to Phoenix! ;) (Assuming he IS the GM.)

in which context did he say that? Nash is always politically correct at such interviews. so, it's hard to tell anything from it.

I think Amare staying will have everything to do with complementary pieces. The way he specifically invoked Garnett/Allen joining Pierce in Boston was very telling. Not that landing a combo like that is easy... And it seems like you need to be the Celtics or Lakers to do it [read: Gasol].

I have a hard time believing the Suns will be big players in the 2010 FA bonanza, but you never know...

He'll be around rehabbing his second microfracture and making a max salary to do it

The Celtics gave up the farm, including Al Jefferson, to land those two guys. Those deals weren't even in the same realm as the Pau deal, which was absolute rape. The Celtics gave up plenty to land Allen and KG.
