National Treasure 2 Moving Forward

Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films have begun developing National Treasure 2, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The studio has hired Gregory Poirier to write the movie, which will be directed by returning helmer Jon Turteltaub. Details of the story are being kept under wraps.

The first film, starring Nicolas Cage, Sean Bean, Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha and Jon Voight, earned $347.5 million worldwide. It is unclear whether any of the cast will return for the sequel.

I thought it looked too stupid to even bother watching. Plus, having Nicholas Cage as the star made it certain to go on the skip list.

I never said it was the best movie ever, but it was very entertaining and funny.

I just wish they'd leave it alone though. Not every successful movie needs a sequel. :bang:

I initially thought that it looked horrible in the previews. Rented it the other day and I did enjoy it.

National Treasure 2 Subtitle Revealed?
Source: TheDisneyEnquirer
November 17, 2006

On November 15th, Disney Enterprises registered two domain names for National Treasure 2 that give a clue as to what the sequel's subtitle might be. The company bought the names NationalTreasure2TheBookofSecrets.com and TheBookofSecretsNationalTreasure2.com.

"The Book of Secrets" makes sense, considering that producer Jerry Bruckheimer said previously that the sequel involves Abraham Lincoln, John Wilkes Booth and 18 pages which are actually missing from Booth's library.

Director Jon Turteltaub and stars Nicolas Cage, Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Jon Voight and Harvey Keitel return for the sequel, targeted for a December 21, 2007 release.

I enjoyed the movie and found it entertaining. Sometime sequels aren't really sequels. This is just another puzzle solving mystery with the same/similiar cast. I can dig it!!

Agreed. First one was cheesy, but fun cheesy. If next one fits same mold, I'll see it.

I thought the first one was a nice movie. I will watch this one but probably wait till it comes on DVD. Not one I'd get too excited for.

This is the kind of movie Disney used to make: fun and cheesy, great for mass audiences. I approve of this, even if I'd never actually want to write stuff like this. It's fun, not full of itself, easy to digest like old pirate serials. But with history, so it's got that going for it, too.

It's not quite Indiana Jones, but not every movie can star Harrison Ford.

This was very entertaining, much more so than the other 2 recent movies I've seen..AVP:Requiem and I Am Legend.

I could have done without the stupid Goofy cartoon that played immediately before the movie, that was a waste of time. Hardly anyone in the theater I was in laughed.
