FYI - It's technically considered a recruiting violation to try and convince a kid to come to your school via facebook or whatever if you're a booster. And if you biught only one ticket to an ASU game last year then you're considered a booster.

From my understanding there aren't as of yet any rules regarding things like MySpace and Facebook on the NCAA rulebooks yet. Hundreds of NC State fans started a facebook page trying to convince John Wall to come there, the NCAA threatened them, but at the end of the day can't really do anything about it. Its a freedom of speech issue and if the NCAA ever tries to take it to court, they don't have a leg to stand on.

Article about the topic here: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/highschool/04/10/facebook.ap/index.html

The best part about that article is NC State fans actually believing they could land John Wall.

Since Herb came to ASU I've come to think NC State hoops fans may be the most delusional in all of college sports. They think they should be up there w/ UNC and Duke, its ridiculous.

Not really, State has won two National Championships and is one of the 20 best college basketball programs of all time. Fans are only as "delusional" as the state of their program. Arizona fans were called delusional by every major writer and college hoops fans in the country ten days ago right up until tried Sean Miller, same with Alabama during their long coaching search until they lured Nick Saban away from a successful NFL franchise. Nobody would be calling NC State fans delusional right now if their AD hadn't botched the Calipari hire because they'd be winning ACC titles and advancing in the Tournament.

This is getting ridiculous, it appears Archie Miller is heading to Tucson as well. Arizona is going to be scary good on the recruiting trail over the next few years with him, Book, and Miller. You might as well pencil in the 2010 class as top 10 nationally right now.

Wall is from Raleigh so it's understandable, I guess. Fans always think they have a shot at the local kid. Kind of like ASU fans who thought they had a chance to sign Mike Bibby, Richard Jefferson or Jerryd Bayless.

Don't get used to it, you'll be off our radar by 2011.

Considering how Miller has out-recruited most of the Pac-10 less than a week into the job I'm guessing his 2010 class will be a monster too.

2011 is more likely than 10 because based on what I read on BRO, 2010 is not nearly as talented a class on the West Coast. not that Miller can't recruit nationally with his East Coast ties of course, but he's more likely to land a monster class in 11.

of course he has a huge advantage in that he really doesn't have to worry about saving rides next year for 11, he's got so many available rides that won't be a concern.

IT's because Wall's mom had a mild stroke a few months ago. that's why Duke and UNC are suddenly involved, the feeling is he may decided to try and stay close to home for his mom.

Of course now Chad Ford said he's hearing talk Wall is exploring declaring for the draft. he's already 19, he's a 5th year senior, and it appears he's actually draft eligible.

You mean the same Jim Livengood who pursued Tim freaking Floyd first and nearly botched the Miller hire by flying/driving Sean Miller all over the western US to conduct a covert interview that everyone with the internet knew about?

Sean Miller is Arizona's next coach because Lute Olson built a tradition that allowed the administration to throw a bunch of money and perks at coaching candidates and even then JL almost screwed the whole thing up (Jim Boylen would've been announced the head coach last week were it not for Miller having a change of heart). But keep tooting the 'Lute sucks, Livengood rules' horn, too bad exactly zero people who follow Pac-10 athletics would agree with you.

Boylen? The guy who "coached" the Bulls last year? For real?

Wow.

Most of the staff's ties are back East or in the Midwest, I don't see the lack of West Coast talent being an issue.
