Football Inks 2010 Signing Class
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Twenty-three student-athletes have signed a National Letter-of-Intent to attend Northern Arizona University and play football, Head Coach Jerome Souers announced . Nine of the signees are products of Arizona high schools from across the state.
“It was a good class of talent available to us,” said Head Coach Jerome Souers. “When we talk talent, we are talking about good students with athletic ability that have a strong character. We felt we have addressed the needs of our program to go with a good returning class. Our staff worked extremely hard and was very successful.”
The Lumberjacks signed student-athletes from Buckeye, Chandler, Flagstaff, Mesa, Phoenix and Tempe. NAU also reached into California to sign 11 student-athletes
The class includes four defensive backs, four wide receivers, three running backs, three defensive lineman, three offensive lineman, three linebackers, two quarterbacks and one tight end. Overall, the class included 13 offensive players and 10 defensive players and specialists.
“I think the coaching staff did an outstanding job finding great fits for our program,” said Souers. “They are young men that are hard workers on and off the field and good people to represent our program.”
The Lumberjacks signed a pair of junior college wideouts, Daniel Adler (Diablo Valley College) and Eric Roberson (College of San Mateo) to help fill the need at the wide receiver position. NAU also added offensive lineman Chris Pitts, who was also from Diablo Valley College.
