(11/19/2006) FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Quarterback Jason Murrietta completed his senior season Saturday in record-breaking fashion and is a solid candidate for Walter Payton Award.
Finalists will be announced Monday with voting by a national panel. The top three candidates will be announced Monday, November 27.
The Glendale, Ariz., product finished the season with a NAU school-record 34 touchdowns, the top total among Payton candidates. He threw for 2,827 yards, the second-best total among the seven quarterbacks on the “Watch List”.
