I know 4 th pre-season games are hard to evaluate, but I did like the way Navvare hung in there, nice composure and accurate throwing. Good job.

Sorry guys, but last night he reminded me of......

Kent Graham.

Big arm...slow reflexes...eyeballs his receiver.

Wow...you must think he is REALLY bad to try and make a comparison to McCown like he is some type of quality QB...JMHO

Navarre is a clear #3 QB. I don't think he's shown too much improvement from last year. My bet is that he'll hold the clip board this year and be gone next year.

The guy is 6'6" and practically thows side-arm. If he worked on his delivery, he wouldn't have so many balls batted down.

Scott MS - I hope you are wrong! I like Navarre a lot. I think his size on the field means that he has a lot going for him. True he does need to work on his delievery, but I bet that McCown is gone before he is. And in the long run I think that Navarre will be a better QB than McCown! Time will tell...

I think McCown is gone too. I think you'll see Denny bring in a bunch of QBs next off season just like he did this season with RBs. Navarre will get a shot at it.

The purpose in drafting a QB late... is to give him a chance over the course of his first contract to show - first - that's he's capable of handling the no. 2 position, if need be - and, two - should he be a rare gem - become the starter.

Navarre has shown very little to allow one to seriously believe that he has the ability to be a no. 2, and none that indicates he'll ever become a starter in this league. Other then the vagaries of contracts, it's much more likely that McCown will be here next season, and Navarre (like Griesen, and others before) will be fighting another lower round draft pick for his survival.

Was Kent not the guy the crowd cheered when he got injured so Jake could take over?

Navarre still is a possible NFL keeper in my mind. He is only in his second year. McCown is in year four although many seem to think he is a rookie. I would not be surprised to see all three before the season is over if our OL does not get its act together and we develop some sort of running game.

There are guys out there who would make a better 3rd QB than Navarre. JT O'Sullivan and Matt Mauck (sp?) for example.

I remember the press writing that the re-signing of McCown for one more year probably meant it was his last. I think McCown and Navarre provide decent backup for Warner (far better than Dave Brown and Greisen did for Plummer).

But neither guy seems to be the future. After seeing what a guy like Van Pelt did on Friday, why can't the Cards find some young prospects like that with lots of potential.

Van Pelt is a perfect backup in Denver because he's a Jake clone (but stronger). He's not a good passer.

He was sure threading the needle and putting some perfect touch on his passes that night.

Jake's had a few nice one's, too. Doesn't mean he's a good passer -- in the NFL you've got to do it week-in and week-out, I don't think Van Pelt will ever be that guy.

He's exciting, that's for sure. I watched him at CSU and I watched him every week in the preseason here in Denver. He's just not a starting NFL QB. I'll say the same thing I came to realize about Jake--he's a great backup because he can show you flashes and that's what you need sometimes to bring teams from behind and garner short-term confidence in the signal caller. But it's not sustainable, unfortunately.

BACKUP ? Jake Plummer must be the first 4000 yard passer and the highest paid backup in NFL history... how could that be... ?

NO LEMON

There's a similar situation in San Diego where the Chargers invested heavily in Philip Rivers, but have watched undrafted free agent Cleo Lemon from Arkansas State outplay him this summer.

Rivers has had a good summer; Lemon a great one. Lemon completed 34 of 49 passes for 369 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions and a 111.7 quarterback rating. Rivers complete 35 of 55 passes for 276 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions and a 73.0 rating.

But this might be the last time for a while that either of these quarterbacks are discussed. Even though Chargers quarterback Drew Brees sprained his ankle during San Diego's 28-24 win over San Francisco, he said he could have returned to action had it been the regular season. Now Brees will have 10 days to rest his ankle for the Cowboys.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Cleo Lemon would look good in Cardinal red ............

Why can't our backups play like that..??
If this kid can come right out of college and do this how come McCown can't even come close ????????

JT O'Sullivan , Matt Mauck, and Michael Bishop are or were available.......

If Warner goes down then our chances of winning take a deep dive downward ...

I don't trust McCown or Navarre to run our offense ......

I've said it before and I'll say it again--Jake is more suited to be a backup. He's the best backup QB in he NFL. Obviously, I know he's starting...but I think he's backup material.
