Diallo no longer playing 5-on-5 at NBA Draft Combine
Hamidou Diallo will not participate in the five-on-five portion of the NBA Draft Combine, reports Jonathan Givony of Draft Express.
Sam Vecenie of The Sporting News recently told CatsPause.com that Diallo playing five-on-five would be a very risky proposition.

"It would be riskier for him to play five on five than any other prospect," Vecenie said. "Part of it is a stock market kind-of-game and do you want to wager your stock on these bad five on five games against 22-year-olds? I think prospects are best off if they can hide as much as they can. We saw that with Skal [Labissiere] and other guys who aren't physically developed. It can leave a bad taste so it's trickier than just being competitive and it's difficult to say what he should do."

Vecenie says he projects Diallo as a potential first round pick.

Best player in attendance: Markelle Fultz (No. 1 on Sporting News Big Board)
Fultz has decided to attend the combine, but he won’t be asked to play in the five-on-five. That means he’ll be there to measure, possibly conduct athletic and medical testing and interview for teams. He’s not considered a liability to perform poorly in any of those portions of the combine, meaning it’s a no-risk scenario for him.

Player with the most to gain: Hamidou Diallo (No. 25)
Per DraftExpress, Diallo is slated to play in the five-on-five portion of the combine. If he is to perform as the 6-5, elite athlete who can get up and down the floor and play with a high-level motor that he is, the current Kentucky Wildcat could push himself into lottery discussions and end up eschewing his freshman year at Kentucky.

Player with the most to lose: Hamidou Diallo (No. 25)
However, if he is to perform to what his current experience level is — which is to say, never participating in a collegiate game against players 20 to 23 like he’ll be performing against here — it could hurt his stock enough to where teams don’t believe he’ll be ready early enough to contribute on his rookie contract, and he’ll get indications that he should return to school. No pressure, just have to perform in your first-ever set of games against this level of competition, with potentially millions of dollars riding on the outcome.

Combines honestly are worthless. That includes the NFL combine. Game tape tells you if they can play.

Combine should only be interviews and medical.

It's interesting the Suns are not in the group to interview Fultz.

It's not clear to me that's the only interviews, I read something that said some teams prefer to interview outside the combine because they think the combine setting lends itself to "Scripting" where players answer the same questions over and over and you don't wind up getting what you want out of the interview.

Nothing of importance has happened. Just players showing up for the combine.

I really don't care for the five on five games that will be played today or tomorrow.

I just tweeted to Doug Haller and he replied that he thinks they actually are in that group.

Thanks for the information. Haller is usually correct on this stuff.

Good point. One way or the other, I think the Suns will interview Fultz. It doesn't make sense otherwise.

I like the measurements and such. They are sometimes different than listed.

"The 19 year old still isn't freakishly long, but has tremendous size for a point guard with similar dimensions to former Kentucky combo guard Brandon Knight." - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/article/2017-nba-draft-combine-measurements-analysis-5927/ ©DraftExpress

Great. They ruined De'Aaron Fox for me!

Note: I understand this is a completely irrational take on my part. But still...Brandon Knight. Gross.

I thought as much concerning dimensions but I was withholding this comparison. LOL :)

Fox is aggressive, especially on defense, so I would not let this ruin it for you.

Eddie Sefko @ESefko
Justin Patton on oddest Q he got at combine: "When you come to a yellow light, do you speed up or slow down?" A: "Depends where I'm going."

What I thought was interesting in that was they said UK's combine measured him incorrectly, wingspan 2 inches short, and that as a result of that scouts had downgraded him going into the season. I guess all the other UK guys were correct but you can just see schools recruiting against UK now telling kids going to UK might harm their stock because they don't know how to measure correctly.

I'm amazed Fox isn't longer than that I guess it was how skinny he is but his arms look freakishly long to me.
