Just watched McDonough's interview at the combine. Three takeaways:

1. He reiterated that he believes this is one of the top 2 or 3 drafts he has seen since he has been in the league (since 2003).
2. He said he is happy picking anywhere in the top 5, but that there obviously are more options picking "in the top two...or three".
3. They asked him if LaVar Ball would affect their decision on Lonzo. He replied "not really" and then seemed to talk up LaVar as a positive influence in many ways. It seemed like the answer of someone who has Ball very high on his board.

The man can be quite engaging when he wants to be. That interview with Skip and Shannon is a great example of how he can say the right things.

Phoenix Suns general manager Ryan McDonough was then asked the same question on ESPN2 and echoed similar sentiments but was more extensive in his view of the Lonzo/LaVar situation.
Not really, no," McDonough said. "We evaluate the player first and foremost. Every player comes from a different family situation. It seems like LaVar has been extremely involved in Lonzo's career and obviously he's a polarizing guy. But on the court, in terms of development, it seems like it's helped Lonzo. As we try to weigh in all the factors, certainly having a parent who's very involved and cares a lot, we don't view that as a bad thing. It's a little bit different than certain situations but it's certainly that we would not disqualify Lonzo for, or really factor heavily in our decision."

Do you have a link to his interview?

There still should be quality talent at #32.

Maybe the Suns could use the 54th pick and a future second round pick to move up slightly.
