It would be fascinating to see one entire game played by the literal rules. I know we would have an avalanche of whistles. But it would be so interesting to (a) see just how whiny the players would be; and (b) which players could adapt to actually play basketball; and (c) if such a change would substantially alter the outcome of games.

Almost every modern dribble would have been illegal prior to the Magic Johnson era, or maybe the George Gervin era.

When I played, the Eurostep was a travel.

When I played, a chest high dribble was an automatic turnover for every player.

Back in my high school days (way back), carrying and palming the ball were frequent calls. Nowadays every dribble would be a carry or a palm.

Same thing with, the first foot on the floor was your pivot foot. You couldn't move it.

I guess stuff like that is what makes it so hard for me to watch games anymore. I'm old time. Which for many things is the way it should be. IMO.
