Below is the press release with the announcement as well as the detailed results the simulation threw:
NBA LIVE 08 SIMULATION PREDICTS THE PHOENIX SUNS WILL DEFEAT THE BOSTON CELTICS IN THE FINALS 2008
An EA SPORTS NBA LIVE 08 videogame simulation of the entire 2007-08 NBA season predicted that the Phoenix Suns will come away winners of The Finals 2008 next June, defeating the Boston Celtics in seven games.
In the NBA LIVE 08 simulation, Suns’ guard Steve Nash led the team to their first NBA championship, and was The Finals MVP. Nash provided veteran leadership and consistency throughout the series averaging a team high 20 ppg and 11.7 apg that proved too much for the Celtics.
The Celtics, who finished last in the Eastern Conference during the 2006-2007 NBA season, rebounded with an infusion of talent following the acquisitions of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in the off-season. The trio of Garnett, Allen and Paul Pierce led the Celtics to their first trip to The Finals in 21 years. Garnett led the team in scoring throughout the regular season (25.9 ppg) and rebounds (11.8 rpg), with Pierce and Allen following close behind with 21.9 ppg and 17.8 ppg respectively.
Both teams posted impressive regular season records paving their road to The Finals and earned the first seed into the playoffs. The Suns knocked off the defending champion San Antonio Spurs in seven games in the Western Conference Finals, while the Celtics defeated the New Jersey Nets in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Additional results of the NBA LIVE 08 simulation for 2007-08 NBA Season include:
* Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade earning the MVP and NBA scoring title with 31.6 ppg
* Chicago Bulls’ Ben Wallace capturing Defensive Player of the Year award.
* Seattle Supersonics’ Kevin Durant receiving the Rookie of the Year award.
* Minnesota Timberwolves’ Randy Foye earning Most Improved Player.
The 2007-08 “NBA Opening Week … It’s Game Time” readies to tip off on October 30 with three games with the defending NBA champion Spurs at home against the Portland Trailblazers, last year’s playoff Cinderella story Golden State Warriors taking on the Utah Jazz at home, and the Los Angeles Lakers hosting the Houston Rockets.
NBA LIVE 08 was released worldwide in October under the EA SPORTS™ brand. Complete Results for EA SPORTS NBA LIVE 08 videogame simulation is shown below:
