Baynes would be more of a "win-now" move for the Clippers. He's been a part of a championship team in the past also and that's what the Clippers hope to be this year. It doesn't make sense longterm but they're an LA team, they'll be able to find someone to fill in for Zubac in a year or two while Baynes upgrades their backup Center spot now.

Other than baynes three point shooting is it really an upgrade? Zubac’s projected numbers are pretty good. Even in 17 mins he’s giving 9/7/1 blocks

You'd have to attach something of value to get him. Tyler Johnson only makes the trade work. If OKC wants Okobo, and/or, say, Lecque, maybe you entertain it. Attach a second round pick if possible. I think Gallinari would help this team exponentially.

I guess when it comes to even a protected first round pick I would say no unless there is an understanding with his agent that he would be willing to sign with the Suns in free agency.

Do not want a player like Kawhi (with Raptors) who wants to play elsewhere. We agree he would help the Suns particularly on offense.

If the Suns could get him for second round picks and/or players that are not critical to the Suns future... fine.

I don't think their production would be everything. They do produce similar statistically but Baynes is a veteran who has played for contenders and on title teams before so a title contender like the Clippers and Doc Rivers preferring a proven commodity like him over Zubac isn't that surprising. Would you rather have Baynes or Zubac playing in the 4th quarter of a game 7? I think the answer is pretty clear there.

So did anyone see booker randomly posted a picture today of himself with Galinari as a kid.

Seems kind of strange - maybe we are meant to read between the lines.

where was this

It's probably not a true upgrade but more of a different look for them. The combination of Harrell and Baynes gives them more flexibility than Zubac and Harrell, who are both most effective around the basket area on offense.

Personally I think signing Love would be be settling for mediocrity. Suns would use tie up their cap space, use a valuable pick or young players and handicap their future.

Let's not be settlers.

If the Suns want to trade a protected 1st round pick, I'm guessing there are much better options.

I love that he says love sucks at defense but it’s not like PHOENIX is good at that so who cares? I mean that’s the dumbest comment I could think of. Hey, we have a big shortcoming, so let’s make a trade that hamstrings us cap wise for years and makes the shortcoming even worse!

Yeah, it's almost like saying the Suns should have stayed with SSOL.

There has to be. Please let there be better options out there.

IMO, this trade rumor is media driven more than anything else. If anything the Suns should be compensated for taking on Love's contract.

Exactly this. If they want to throw in Garland or Sexton for us taking on Love's contract then I'd be game but I wouldn't be thrilled with that deal even if one of them were included. Love's contract is one of the worst in the league. Once he's dealt out of Cleveland, I think we'll see the narrative change amongst the media with him. It's like they're trying to help him get out Cleveland before talking about how he's essentially done.

Getting Garland or Sexton would be a way of making the trade more equitable for sure. I haven't followed their career much but the Suns could certainly use a backup point guard that can be groomed for the future.

I know Ty Jerome's defenses has been atrocious but with him being out 4 games makes me wonder if he might not be included in a trade.

I'm wondering if Tristan Thompson might not be a more likely target. He might be a better fit for the Suns and he is an expiring contract.

I agree with this. We he path forward will be with tough players who are efficient on offense and put out lots of effort on defense. This team is now one star away from contending. They are more likely to find that player in free agency than with Kevin Love.
