Who would you like to see, if any, the Suns possibly pick-up after they clear waivers?

Demitris Nichols signed with the Cavs....

My picks in order of preference...
(PF) Wayne Simien (good young PF that can run, shoot and rebound)
(PF/C) Esteban Batista (we all saw what he did in the FIBAS more like the Suns than the Celtics)
(PF/C) Jackie Butler (just didnt fit in with the Rockets)
(C) Mile Ilic (didnt get any real time with NJ)
(PF/C) Juwan Howard (duh!!! great vet)
(SG) Sammy Mejia (tore the summer league up defensively and rebounding)
(SF) Koralev (could do well with the Suns, long and likes to run)
(SG/SF) Derrick Byars (could be a sleeper that fell to a pick em in Detroit)
(PG) Jared Jordan (sign him and put in the D-League)

Simien - he's the only one that might contribute this season. Our front court depth is still bothersome.

I'm not familiar that much with Simien, but the Suns need front court depth. There does not appear to be much available so I would take a look at him but I don't think the Suns will.

Just another thought. Justin Reed might be worth a look as well.

Beno Udrih got waived by Minnesota after the Spurs traded him to the Wolves in a cost-cutting move. I've thought Udrih would be great here and I'd love to see the Suns offer him a contract, but I bet he'll go to a team looking for a point guard (Cleveland, Miami, maybe Atlanta).

Batista already got a contract, I think in Europe. Nobody that isn't an established vet would get signed at this point.

I just saw this. I would love for the suns to see what this guy has. I have liked him for a while.

The Suns need a PG whether they realize it or not. And I thought he was still with the Spurs.

Yep, Batista signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Simien would be a interesting prospect, but he didn't play much during his Miami stint, despite their lack of front court personnel. That speaks volumes.

Do you think Riley would start and play these younger players, when they are trying to win? He is notorious for sitting younger players.

And now we see the crux with why he won't be coming to Phoenix either.

You got a point DCR. But Riley is not that stubborn : he gave an increasing amount of playing time to Dorrell Wright over the past few years because of Walker suckiness.

On the other hand, Simien appeared in 43 games during his rookie season and 8 games last year, slipping behind the likes of Earl Barron and Michael Doleac in the depth chart.

If you add to that his Danny Manningesque injury proneness (he just had a debridement of his knee joint, by the way), well we're talking about a rookie with health concerns, aka "the guy who will be behind Skinner and Marks in the Suns depth chart, handing out towels ". Actually, I was wrong : he's not even an interesting prospect.

He was never healthy. That was the big knock on him coming out of college and it seems to have proven true. It's too bad because if healthy he might be useful.
