My thoughts on the new shows:
The Event: It's another attempt to create an X-Files, Lost, Fringe, whatever. What I saw of it I think they missed the point and created a show with a mythology and forgot to start with interesting characters. That's always a bad sign.
Chase: If you like In Plain Sight, you'll like this. Looks a lot like that show.
Undercovers: It looks like a hipper Chuck. JJ Abrams' next show.
Outsourced: I thought this was OK, but everyone else in my group was offended and thought it was unfunny. It has a look and feel of Community to me. It replaces Parks & Rec, which moves to a mid-season replacement slot.
Love Bites: This is very earnest attempt to reinvent Sex in the City, only I think they've actually hired to good writers to give it a different feel.
School Pride: It's Extreme Home for schools. Exact same format, except it's only 30 minutes long.
Outlaw: Jimmy Smits as a lawyer. *shrug* I've seen this before.
I won't talk about the new mid-season shows because they're not slated yet, but one interesting one I saw was called The Cape. Looks sort of interesting. Paul Reiser has a show that's a complete rip-off of Curb Your Enthusiasm. It's like Curb Your Enthusiasm C Team put together a show.
