Ned Rifle
Release Date: April 1, 2015 (limited)
Studio: Vimeo
Director: Hal Hartley
MPAA Rating: N/A
Screenwriter: Hal Hartley
Genre: Drama, Comedy
Starring: Parker Posey, Liam Aiken, Robert John Burke, Martin Donovan, Thomas Jay Ryan, Aubrey Plaza
Plot Summary: Aubrey Plaza stars in the third installment of Hal Hartley’s "Henry Fool" trilogy. Henry and Fay's son Ned sets out to find and kill his father for destroying his mother's life. But his aims are frustrated by the troublesome Susan, whose connection to Henry predates even his arrival in the lives of the Grim family. "Ned Rifle" is the final chapter of a trilogy that kicked off in 1997 with "Henry Fool," which was followed by 2006’s "Fay Grim," starring Parker Posey as the titular heroine trying to clean up a mess left by her ex-lover. Posey is back this time, as are the other actors, though they’re joined here by Aubrey Plaza, cast somewhat against type as a mysterious and sultry vixen who keeps foiling everyone’s plans. She adds something different to Hartley’s usual hijinks, making for a crime dramedy that’s ostensibly quirky, but also short, sweet and quite moving.
