Directv has an HD Tivo they sell. If you are a sunday ticket subscriber, you can call retention and try to get one for free. there was a thread about it on here somewhere, probably the cards board.

So I called Directv and here is what I managed to finagle today:

mpeg4 HD receiver
HD DVR
$10 discount per month off bill
$50 programming credit
HBO/Showtime for $2.00

Install is on the 2nd when I move into my new place

Thanks for all of your help!!!

You should be able to swap out that HD DVR for a new mpeg4 one once they come out...and just pay shipping.

Today, my TiVo died. May it RIP.

I had the 1st generation TiVo from 2002 and tried as hard as possible to not have DirectTV switch me to the "newer equipment" since I knew it was a generic DVR.

But, alas, it kept getting stuck and lost one of it's tuners.

So the Direct TV installer guy was clueless when I asked him if the new DirectTV/Tivo would be out soon. He said he's never heard of it. He didn't even know what the dual buffer function was with the Live TV button!

I don't like this R15 dvr - can't watch 2 channels live and fast forward thru commercials.

Drats. :(

Actually the newer HD DVR's for Directv support both Dual Live Buffers as well as Multi-Room Viewing.
