The Brooklyn Nets made an interesting decision earlier this season when they decided to not trade forward Cam Johnson at the deadline despite how many teams were reportedly interested in trading for him. With Brooklyn heading into a key offseason this summer, it's important to know that there are even more teams interested in Johnson than had been previously noted.

"Big picture for the Nets: is Cam Johnson going to be here? Cam Johnson had a lot of interest at the trade deadline," NBA insider Michael Scotto said to YES Network's Meghan Triplett during his interview with the network. Scotto touched on various topics, including the Denver Nuggets firing Michael Malone along with the upcoming free-agency situations for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant, but he also spent some time offering insight into what Johnson's market could look like this offseason.

"Some other teams that I don't think were mentioned, but I had checked in with (were the) San Antonio Spurs, looking for some shooting around (Victor) Wembanyama, the Minnesota Timberwolves as well. They also looked at Durant," Scotto continued. "I do expect Cam Johnson is going to draw some significant interest on the market this summer. The question will be whether Brooklyn views him as a player that can be a part of the next iteration of this team."

Before this season began, Johnson's name began to appear more in reports regarding players that could be traded, mostly because of the Nets choosing to send Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks along with getting their own picks back from the Houston Rockets. With Brooklyn heading into a full rebuild, many expected Johnson to be dealt given the fact that he was also having a career-season as well.

The Nets decided to hold on to Johnson given the influence that he has had on the younger players on the team due to his performance and his maturity. "We like Cam and I think Cam fits multiple different builds that we're doing. He's a voice of reason, he's well respected within that locker room, he's a pro's pro. If people can learn from somebody, learn from Cam Johnson. That's a great guy to pick up habits from," Brooklyn general manager Sean Marks said when discussing the Nets' lack of moves at the trade deadline.
