The Brooklyn Nets (25-53) have less than one week left in its 2024-25 NBA season and the team seeks to end the campaign on a strong note. Despite not playing well coming out of the All-Star Break, Brooklyn has been better recently as they've won two of their past four games, but they will be more shorthanded than usual Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Nets announced on Monday that guards Keon Johnson and D'Angelo Russell, forward Cam Johnson, and center Day'Ron Sharpe will be out Tuesday against the Pelicans with their respective situations. Keon Johnson is being held out of the game due to rest, Russell is dealing with a right ankle sprain, Cam Johnson is still nursing a lower back contusion, and Sharpe still has to rehab from his right knee sprain.

Russell, Cam Johnson, and Sharpe have been out of the lineup for the past couple of games given that each of the players are dealing with injuries that Brooklyn is less likely to rush them back from with the season close to ending. For someone like Keon Johnson, however, his being held out for rest could be an indication that head coach Jordi Fernandez will be looking to evaluate some of the lesser-used players on the roster.

Johnson, 23, is nearing the end of what has been a career year for him in his fourth season in the NBA after being the 21st overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft out of Tennessee. Johnson is putting up career-highs across the board as he is averaging 10.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 38.5% from the field and 31.4% from three-point land.

With all of the players ruled out for Tuesday's matchup against New Orleans, including players like Cam Thomas, Noah Clowney, and De'Anthony Melton that are inactive for the rest of the season, Brooklyn will have to field three new starters to accompany forward Ziaire Williams and center Nic Claxton. This could a spot where Fernandez starts someone like Reece Beekman, Dariq Whitehead, and Trendon Watford as the replacements.
