Saturday night I was at a party at my brother-in-laws. A friend of my sons is a Radio Shack manager and he invited a fellow manager to the gathering of mostly sports nuts watching college football...they also play Beer Pong but I'm too old for that stuff.

I was all decked out in my finest Cardinal gear. When introduced to me the guy just said "Wow...this is quite an honor....never met one before". "Never met one what I asked"....and his response was "A football Cardinal fan".

At first I thought he was just going to diss me and the team......but he actually knew players and their strengths....he even said we had a great coach and team.....can't remember the last time someone said that to me during pro football season.

This team has a different attitude....and so do I.

At work I'm known as 'that Cardinal guy' by most people. I've only met one Cardinal fan in my whole life by happenstance, and that was a truck driver who saw me wearing my Simeon Rice jersey and took me out to his cab that was all decked out with cards gear. He had a couple photo albums with Cards game pics, old cardinal football cards. Awesome meeting.

This season is very odd.

I'm not used to having teams that are competitive and what's even more odd than the Cardinals is Mizzou.

5-0, stomp Nebraska and ranked 11th, which for them is simply other worldly.

I'm not used to being a fan of teams that are actually winning, it's weird but in a good way.

Congrats Mizzou.....I was a Husker fan at one time....but when they called me a douche bag on one of their forums for sticking up for one of their players I decided to turn.

Living in York, PA, I'm surrounded by Steelers, Eagles & even Ravens fans. My bowling league has a TON of Steeler fans, who almost always are wearing their gear. I thought it was the perfect time to wear my Leinart jersey last week. I just had the time of my life. I caught some grief, but to a man, they all were in agreement that the Cardinals under Whiz will be a team to be reckoned with. They are still MAJOR PISSED off that the Steelers let Whiz & Grimm go. They are of the belief that the Steelers Coordinators are the reason for the teams success. What impressed them the most was just how PHYSICAL we were.

Things are changing. Used to be the first sentence a Cardinal fan made on a Cardinals message board was "I thought I was the only Cardinal fan in the World until I found this board."

Don't see that much anymore.

Didn't your mother ever tell you about getting into stranger's cars?

And yes, as the lone Cards fan in this town, I'm getting different treatment nowadays. I can't wait to (hopefully) start seeing some new Cardinals fans around here. Then I can call them all bandwagon fans. :)
