David Stern has determined that the new ball is just fine. He even tried bouncing it, and he did not notice any problems, unlike Shaq and Steve Nash. He thinks people are just not realizing the "upside of the ball", they're just talking about the downside. (Its on ESPN.com)

I am so glad that a basketball idiot, aka, David Stern has tested the ball himself, proclaiming it to be just fine, while stars comment on the undesirable nature of the changing tacticity. I'm sure Stern tested it with some catch and shoot drills, and some dribble penetration moves with one handed passes while sweating profusely. I wonder if the commissioner of any other sport decides to modify the ball and then test it himself. Is any skill at all required to "test the ball". Spaulding has wanted to change to a composite ball for awhile, apparently(more profit/ball I bet).

Kobe said "It’s just a ball,’’ Bryant said. ``Growing up, I played with all kinds of balls. I rolled up tape and used tape as a basketball. I played with a sock. I think I can play with this one. We’ll be fine. I don’t even think it’s that big of a deal.’’

we should just accept it and play with it"

Kobe knows what's up! If the comish wants that ball, it will be that ball. It's hard for me to say, but I agree with Kobe - I used to play with a ball that didn't even bounce and had ripped up leather and missing outer layers...

Man I was money with that ball!

I can hear that giant sucking sound and its coming from kobe to the commish. And, by the way, has kobe even played with the ball, he's been out injured hasnt he? I rarely agree with someone who is as uninformed as kobe must be(he hasnt used the ball). Kobe is a very talented basketball player, but what comes out of his mouth is generally not very intelligent or relevant. But you know, he is so skilled he doesnt need to be.

if kobe is backing the ball, i cant think of a better reason to get rid of it.

Just what I was thinking. Is Kobe just trying to suck up or maybe he owns stock in the company?

They're professional athletes...a new or different ball should not make THAT big a difference. Yes it will be a change and some adjustments will be made, but the new ball will not impact the game in dramatic fashion

Hard to believe considering his privileged background and the fact that his dad was a player. Must've been a bitch to dribble.

Maybe this is why he likes the sticky basketball. :)
