Will any of the candidates for the Cardinals Head Coaching job be able to persuade free agents from their old teams to join them in Arizona?

Crennel...Who are the key UFA's on the Patriots?
Johnson...Who are the key UFA's on the Eagles?
Fassel...Who are the key UFA's on the Giants?

We will leave Green out of this because he has not coached in two years. However, I think Green could attract his fair share as well based on his past success.

The big one would be Ty Law, they keep saying Law might be a salary cap casualty this year. The Cards are probably the only team in the NFL who could actually trade for him but his contract is huge, would be much smarter to let them cut him and then swoop in and sign him, but of course you take the risk that he might not choose us.

Right after the Milloy incident in New England, Ty Law was basically saying how he won't be with the Patriots anymore after this season. But after seeing how Rodney Harrison was a great replacement, and Milloy is actually suffering right now, and on top of that the Patriots have been winning like crazy... Ty Law is becoming more and more willing to restructure his contract. So I'm not too sure about Ty Law. It also might depend on what the Patriots do in the playoffs.

About the whole free agent thing... we're not exactly the team where free agents are looking to go  And this is a shame because we could really use a top free agent, maybe two if we can afford it. I see three cases where we have a realistic chance of obtaining a top free agent:

- Getting someone who already has a superbowl ring and as a result, money starts looking real nice to them (Dexter Jackson could fall under this category).
- Getting someone who has connections with our soon to be coach. For example, with Jim Johnson might come Vincent (I don't know about Taylor though...). Other than Jim Johnson, this case doesn't look too great either. Maybe Green could help a bit in this area also.
- Insanely outbidding other teams for the free agent. (Colvin didn't care about that either)

Obviously people aren't coming here because we have a chance at the Super Bowl. So the situation is not that great for us. Let's hope for a great draft though :) ... ugh ... :(

Equal if not more than "ability to attract FA's" should be who each candidate would plan to bring in as assistant coaches.

What?
I truly believe a disciplined coaching staff will reduce our need for big name FA's. There is talent here, now. It needs used correctly.

I think you are absolutely right.

I especially think our DL is more capable than it showed under the (mis) guidance of the Mac regime. Anyhow, there is not a free agent out there that is going to cure our DL problems and that includes Kearse, given his injury history. So, for our sake, let's hope I'm right.

To be honest with you my biggest belief is that the main problem in comming here is the heat.

I know this sounds stupid but think about it.

Any sane player weighing over 300 pounds plus gear and maybe having played in AZ during September would have to factor that in.

Now if the Cardinals were winners eh then maybe I think about it but otherwise forget it. Not even on a bet would I play there.

I think Kendall is about the only guy I remember of any signifigence we ever got to come here on either the O or D line. I am sure there are more but not recently at least no one thought of as top tier good.

This is just one factor and not the biggest one, the biggest would be the losing, but still all things being equal no way I play in the desert if I have any similar choices, I'd play for the Bengals first.

I think the players that do play here get used to it and so it becomes much less of an issue to them however it remains a big stumbling block for players playing in the rest the NFL though.

The stadium will help fix this and many other problems.. Can't wait.

So you believe MB's stance that the lack of AC has been why this team has sucked so bad? I'm not fully sold on that.
