True but I heard them say that she loves her job.

It's not about being able to retire, it's about not wanting to.

And it is also not just about a 'vacation' destination... maybe she has family still around her and why would anyone want to leave that, I wouldn't at a older age :)

.@mikejurecki: "I'm hearing it doesn't appear Dick LeBeau will be joining the Cardinals staff in any capacity."

Source tells @NFLonFOX that @AZCardinals still waiting for Dick LeBeau decision. Team had spoken to him about LBs coach position.

They blew this IMO. Why make him a LB coach and offer him that job when we have a vacancy at defensive coordinator? It's like a slap in the face. It's insulting frankly. If he's good enough to do that job at his age then why isn't he good enough at his age to do what he's been doing for decades?

Because we don't want to run his specific blitz schemes with our DL being our strongest attribute.

LeBeau ran a 1-gap attacking scheme for the past 2 seasons, just like ours. Pretty sure he could have continued to run the 1-gap system here if that was a concern.

Unless it was LeBeau himself who indicated that he would be fine taking on an assistant's or advisor's role---which, knowing him seems about as likely as snow in the Florida Keys---everything you just said is 100% correct.

Compounding the matter is the fact that the two current Cardinals' assistants who reportedly are the favorites to be the DC have a combined 5 years of coaching in the NFL, and one of those years (for Bettcher) was just being an assistant to the head coach (Pagano) and not even being a position coach---furthermore, neither brings experience coordinating an NFL defense, let alone making the defensive calls on game day.

It makes no sense whatsoever, especially from a HC who has been saying the organization is "all-in" in its pursuit of the Lombardi.

The LeBeau scenario fell right into the Cardinals' laps. Looks like they did what Green Bay did on the on-side kick---let a clear chance at the Lombardi fall right through their hands.

I agree to a point, but he did agree to the visit. One would assume he knew what position he was interviewing for.

what I have learned from when whiz was hired until now:

Whiz came in, brought in an all star staff, we did great and as high end coaches left we promoted scrubs and spiraled into darkness.

BA came in, built a hell of a staff and now a good chunk is leaving and IMO what he does here will have a massive importance as to if we can sustain success on defense or not.

Good point

BA needs to keep the quality of the coaching staff at a high level so we can continue to build the team and play at a high level.

I'm all for getting peoiple opportunities but the only time whiz did well was when he had HC candidates at coordinator and coordinator candidates at position coaches. Once he was fired we had a good DC but the rest was barrel scraping for the most part.

The guy that was our OC is at best a position coach today I bet.

Before people say the Cards blew this thing with LeBeau. Remember, he doesnt want to coach west of the Mississippi. His wife lives in Ohio and the commute is a bit further than a state away. All he's doing with respect to his friend BA is talking with him. Maybe BAs picking his brain. I doubt offering him the LB position, if thats true, would be a slap in the face coming out from the snow to the sunshine. Either way, I'm sure BASK will build a defensive staff 'most of us" will be proud of, along with Mikey Bs blessing.

+1

I remember Peyton Manning meeting with Whiz, which we viewed as more courtesy than anything else.

What about Mike Nolan? I am concerned about ARZ hiring a rookie DC, both candidates may have worked under Bowles but that doesn't mean they have his expertise or knowledge. I would think if Bowles thought highly of either of them he would have taken them with him like he did with Caldwell.

Last time ARZ replaced a good coordinator internally it didn't work so well when they promoted Mike Miller to replace Todd Haley, ARZ won 10 games but the offense wasn't the same after Haley left.

Don't think they can leave unless they get a promotion. They're under contract.

So if the plan is to promote DC from within, what is the delay? Seems they would know which position coach they want to make DC already...

There is no time constraint involved, and they're still talking to outsiders regarding potential roles on the 'd'.
