*******I copy & pasted this from the other AZ Cardinals forum & I found it worth discussing.*******

This is not an anti-BA thread. Its simply the acknowledgement that BA might retire very soon. His health issues + not wanting to rebuild after CP/Fitz retire, I could easily see BA ride off in the next 2 years.

With that said....let us speculate about the future. No particular order unless specified:

Jim Harbaugh. Michigan Wolverines, formerly 9ers. Terrific coach no matter how you cut it. Innovator. Modern. He adjusts his systems to his players (unlike BA who forces players into his system). He burnt out in San Fran because their owner is a *****. It had nothing to do with Jim. Jim is a great HC. We'd be very lucky and competitive to have him.

Mike Vrabel. Texans DC. Former LB. Very old school tough guy. I think he risks being too abrasive, because honestly NFL players are soft nowadays. But if you want a mans man in charge, hes the best option to command a team. Has produced some very good Texans defenses and helped guide Watt into being the monster he is now.

Todd Downing. Raiders OC. The young guy option. We see more and more across all sports the hiring of younger and younger head coaches. Downing is 37, which is very young for an NFL HC, but not too young, so it works. He has done a brilliant job with Carr and building the Raiders offense. I like Downing because what he did in Oakland is exactly what we will need in AZ. A guy to build a young offense with a new QB, new WRs, new Oline.

Jon Gruden. ESPN Analyst. Former SB winning HC. The ole regular. Itll never happen. Teams knock on his door every year. He is a good coach. Huge personality so he connects well with players. Outstanding talent evaluator which would help with a young rebuilding team.

Chris Peterson. Washington Huskies HC. 2nd choice for the College hire. He runs a pro system and has churned out many terrific pros. He knows how to cultivate young talent which (again) is a huge need for our future when we have a team of mostly youngins.

what about Matt Patrisia..or however its spelled...the dude from New england... he has turned down interviews over the years but bradys retirement has to be somewhere on the horizon which may have him thinking of a change in venue.

I like gruden but I dont think I would want him as HC..

I strongly dislike Jim Harbaugh, going way back to his playing days...probably the only guy I have ever seen who is a bigger cornholio than I am... but he stacks wins... just not sure how he would meld with steve and mike

downing is an interesting option. very good OC

Michigan is a more attractive job than the Cardinals post Palmer, Fitz, and BA. Plus, I don't think we'd pay $8mil/year

yeah, lol... they might pay that.. IMO the only real draw to coach the redbirds for harbaugh would be the opportunity to spank the niners twice a year...and maybe win a ring in the same division.

yeah,..he has proven to be an effective HC in the NFL

Eff it... I'd be on board with Goodwin as HC as long as we can bring back Bowles for DC. Give James No-In-Game-Adjustments Bettcher a new title. Perhaps VP of misc. stuffs

Since you're copy and pasting, then I will also do the same to my post from the "other" forum.

"Harbaugh would be my first choice for sure. Not sure if he would leave Michigan but I would love to have him here. You know deep down he wants a chance to stick it to the 69ers, not to mention he would have another chance to take on Double Rainbow up in Seattle.

If he declines I say give it to Bowles assuming New York fires him. NOBODY has a chance to win up there, and he was off to a nice 10-6 start with that crap organization before things got rough. I think him and Keim could make it work here."

DVontel, I like your choices. If they are the 'finalists' I'd be happy with any of them. But if I had to pick one, I'd go with Jon Gruden.

I don't know why Gruden is even brought up in these conversations. He's not going to do it but if he did I wouldn't want him coaching the Cards.

Has anyone heard if Chris Peterson is really looking to move up to the bigs?

Yeah, the GM of the Jets has really brought in lots of good players for him to develop especially at qb like Josh McCown!!!
As long as we play the Vikings every Sunday, I'm down with McCown.

If Arians retires at the end of the year then ARZ needs to bring in a Jim Harbaugh type coach. Players seem to gravitate and respond to guys like him and Gruden. It can't be a soft personality guy especially if next year ends up being a rebuilding year. Younger guys are going to need motivation.

Has Gruden ever built anything? His Super Bowl winning team was built by Dungee and in Oakland, well, he did get screwed with the tuck rule thing but I don't get this Gruden love. To be frank, I'd rather have his brother. He's done far more with less in Washington than Jeff did from scratch.
