Rather than starting a new thread with just mock draft info, I thought I'd throw another mock draft I saw today in here...

It's almost like 4 mock's in one because they have 4 analysts/insiders giving their guess on who goes at which spot. All but one of them thinks we'll take Jackson, the other believes we'll go with Tatum but the surprising thing there is he has Ball falling down to the Kings at #5

Wow. 3 of 4 have us taking Jackson.

I think if Ball falls to 4 we might be able to trade down easier. I can definitely see Sacramento wanting him but also Orlando. Both of them have multiple picks this year, I could definitely see Orlando being willing to give up their #6 and #25 pick to move up and get him, if he's there. I don't see Sacramento giving up #5 & #10 to get Ball, or anyone else, at #4 but if any franchise is that stupid it's them. They gave up Cousins for the #10 pick and Buddy Hield, after all. That trade would be as bad as the Bears trading for the #2 overall pick in the NFL draft this year for the #3 overall, their 3rd round, and 4th round picks plus their 3rd round pick next year.

5 and 10 would be cheap to move up and get Ball.

Did anybody hear Casey Jacobson on Gambo yesterday? He said he thought the Suns should trade the #4 for another vet on par with Bled and Chandler.

Brilliant! Let's make a weak attempt to contend while the Warriors will be crushing everyone for the next few years

His rationale was that a team needs a good mix of quality vets and youth to grow. I'm ok with them acquiring another starting vet but not for this years pick. Maybe next years #1 with protection or better yet get a quality vet from some team desperate to shed salary and give up no picks.

After realizing how no one is going to overtake GS for at least the next 3 years, I think PHX should do the following:
1. Draft Dennis Smith Jr at #4 if PHI doesn't take him at #3. This kid reminds me of Allen Iverson with his explosiveness and athletic ability. He is a scoring guard but he has playmaking ability (average 6+ apg last year at NC State). Also, he has the tools to be a really good defender, showed glipses in college but because of his large offensive role it wasn't on full display. Knocks are he has an ACL tear is his past but looks fully healed. He does have a bad habit of landing stiffly on one leg so hopefully he learns to land on 2 legs to minimize potential for another knee injury. Appeared selfish or like a black hole on offense at times, failing to involve teammates, sloppy passing which led to turnovers and made some bad decisions with shot selection at times. But I think he is a better PG now than Fox.

2. I would see if SAC would be willing to deal #5 & #10 for Bledsoe. By the time GS starts their decline Bledsoe will be in his 30's and in the beginning of a potentially really huge contract so why not get younger and have our guys entering their primes together when the time comes to contend? SAC needs a PG and despite all our hopes they would take Knight off our hands, Bledsoe is more realistic. PHX could then nab Tatum at #5 and if the speculation that they are intrigued by Zach Collins is legit then they could have him at #10.

3. Try and find a taker for Knight in a separate deal to free up even more cash, so that if necessary we could try and sign a couple of marquee FA's to max deals should the youth movement take a little longer or need some help to speed up the process.

I think #5 for Bledsoe would be a good deal.

I think the problem is that both teams need to agree to a trade. Nobody in their right mind is gonna give #5 for Bledsoe.
1. This is SAC we're talking about.
2. They NEED a PG.
3. Who at #5 is going to make SAC better than Bledsoe next year?

Why is Sacramento looking at next year instead of the long term? They're in the same boat the Suns are. Both teams would rather have the #5 than Bledsoe, even though the #5 probably won't be someone who can contribute right away.

Find some Kings fans and ask them if they'd be excited about mortgaging their future for Bledsoe.

I don't know what the Kings were offered for Cousins but Divac said in the teams first press conference after the trade that they had a better offer for him just 2 days prior. It was their owner who pushed for Buddy Hield because he thinks he'll be the next Steph Curry. For a GM to just reveal something like that in a press conference right after a trade is beyond abnormal and shows how dysfunctional that franchise is.

SAC is a totally different breed that most front offices in that their front office seems extremely dysfunctional. They could stick to the draft model of building their team but they haven't drafted well (Cousins being the only real impact player the last 7 years) as WCS, Labissiere & McLemore are the only draft picks still on the roster since 2010. Trades and FA seem like more logical routes for them to take, they got Hield from NO, they could trade for an NBA starting PG and go after big time FA's (they are flush with cash without Gay & Cousins contracts and have released Tolliver for another $8M in savings). Maybe their front office doesn't want to wait another 5 years to be relevant. Maybe they just want to be playoff contenders to appease their fan base.

Who is to say there is a better player than Bledsoe at #5 in the draft?

There may not be a player who is better this coming season but in the long term there should be a better player for the Suns. Eric will be 28 this season and he'll be turning 30 during the first year of his new contract, which will be outrageous if he keeps Rich Paul as his agent. So we should trade him before we have to deal with resigning him. In 2 years our young guys will start making real money also and Booker should be on the first year of his extension. The age of our core and Bledsoe just doesn't line up. He'll be 30 while Booker will be 23, Chriss and Bender will be 22, Ulis will be 24, and Warren will be 26 plus whoever we select at #4 this year. On top of the age discrepancies, Bledsoe has had 3 knee surgeries since he's here in Phoenix. I don't see him holding up very long after the age of 30as a solid starting PG.

Bledsoe is at the point where he has more value to us as an asset rather than a player. We should sell high and the #5 pick would be about as high as we could hope for. He's on a team friendly contract right now and has 2 full seasons of it left. He's not a great shooter, playmaker, or distributor like Nash was when we brought him back to Phoenix to pair with our young team then either. We've already seen what Bledsoe does with these guys, which is put up good numbers for himself but he hasn't helped them win or anyone else standout. The Suns had the 4th most turnovers and also had the 2nd lowest number of assists last year with Bledsoe as our starting PG playing 33 minutes a night through 66 games. Ulis was clearly the better PG after the All Star break and I doubt those numbers just happened because of the tank.

@kingdad

I was talking about the idea, the Kings might prefer Bledsoe over the #5 pick in the draft via a trade with the Suns. The 5th pick in the draft may not guarantee the Kings a better player than Bledsoe.

After reading your post again, perhaps we are agreeing but coming at it from different directions.

Maybe, but bender and Chriss was a pretty sharp move and Booker is Booker.

Haller posted a new mock - this appears to be his own instead of a composite of four other writers. Fultz, Lonzo, Fox, Jackson, Tatum - then Markkanen at 6 jumping over Issac and Smith who are 7 & 8. Then Monk at 9 and Frank Ntili going to Sac at 10, which seems fitting for them. Justin Patton jumps over Zach Collins so they're 11 & 12 then Anunoby at 13.

With any luck this the link to it...NBA mock draft: Doug Haller's second edition I know it says second edition but if this works right its the third edition.

Edit: link takes you to the 2nd edition but if you scorll down a bit there is a link to the 3rd edition.

The Basketball Insiders posted a new Mock draft also, 4 people and 3 of them had the Suns taking Jackson with one of them having Ball fall to us at 4.

They have Markannen going 11, 7, 10, and 11.

I find it interesting now that we're about 2 weeks away from the draft that more sites and "insiders" will have discrepancies.
