I just came across this band an hour ago and am totally "blown away" by their sound.... Please be the judge of yourself:

Here is their debut album "Kasabian" on their official website (http://www.kasabian.co.uk) in its entirety.....

The album wont be released in the States until 3/8 and incidentally.. they're performing live at the Marquee Theatre on 3/15.....

I know I've been "pimping" several bands from Europe recently, but Kasabian just incorporates such a unique mixture of sound....Lots of Electronica with some Industrial and Pop influences....... They should have a very promising future here in the States.... Please check them out and tell me what you think...

Here's another link that has both of their videos and some live clips of them as well.... I honestly havent been as excited about a band like this in quite some time.....

Their MTV artist page which has a brief interview of them....

From the Republic:

With a rocking sound flavored with electronics and dance-friendly beats, Kasabian has taken Great Britain by storm. Its self-titled debut album, which will be released today in the United States, already has sold nearly 500,000 copies in Britain, where a smaller population makes that number quite impressive. Named for Linda Kasabian, the getaway driver for Charles Manson in the Sharon Tate murders in 1969, the band has intrigued the British press with its swagger onstage and off.

Kasabian guitarist Sergio Pizzorno recalls a high-pressure day at South by Southwest.

We were out in the States for five weeks touring with the Music and finished off at South by Southwest. Because it was the last gig we were all knackered, but I think it was one of the best shows we did. We played right after Bloc Party who have been talked about a lot, so when we came on we were really ready to go.

We played a place called Stubbs. To be honest, it seemed like there were a lot of coked-up A&R men but the first five rows were fans and they were banging. A lot of people are there to check you out: other labels and stuff. But you just want to make sure you have a good gig whoever's there.

We're signed to RCA in America so we've got plenty of backing already. But you want to impress all the big magazines, live agents, radio people and all that stuff. The suits who sit at the coffee table saying: "I saw this band!"

We seemed to generate a lot of interest. We did seven hours of promo interviews before the show. The first week [in the US] the album went in at 94, which is a massive dent for a band like us. We didn't get much chance to hang out and see the other bands at SXSW because you have to work so hard to generate a few inches. But at the end of the day it's a laugh and we're still alive!

I'm glad that finally one of my recommendations had a more favorable ending! :D

Seriously..it's like a concept album in itself.... they bill themselves as a "movement" more than a band and that does aptly apply with all the messages they convey through their lyrics and the overall landscape of sound they generate...

In fact, the sample link of the entire album is still working and if noone has checked it out yet...then I fully suggest that you do.......

Any critique of mine would be that they don't incorporate too much guitar, however, I bet that is something they will do on subsequent releases....

KASABIAN STAR INJURED

The first date of KASABIAN’s latest UK tour ended in chaos last night (April 22) as guitarist SERGE PIZZORNO was hit by a bottle flung from the audience at GLASGOW’s CARLING ACADEMY and was unable to continue.

The band had already played much of their main set - including 'Processed Beats', 'Test Transmission' and 'Reason Is Treason' - to a high-spirited audience. Although plastic pint cups were being flung amidst the crowd, however, it appeared to be a bottle which struck Pizzorno on his temple during 'The Night Workers' and caused him to drop to the floor. The band quickly followed him as he was helped offstage, with singer Tom Meighan assuring the audience they would be back "in two minutes".

After a heated five-minute wait which saw the crowd directing football chants in the direction of the culprit, however, a member of the production crew took the mic and informed everyone that the bottle had cut Pizzorno’s head, that he was in need of medical treatment, and that the gig was over, before chastising the bottle-thrower. Reports from audience members differ as to exactly what sort of missile was thrown, with one near the front identifying it as a plastic water bottle.

Despite the crowd’s disappointment, they left the venue peacefully and in high spirits, although fan favourite 'LSF' and a three-song encore which included 'Club Foot' remained unplayed. At time of writing it was unclear whether these events would have any effect on the rest of the tour, due to continue tonight (Saturday 23) at the same venue.

I found the following piece very hysterical:

How To Become a Tabloid Star
No one knows trashy gossip rags like the Brits, so let up-and-coming U.K. dance-rockers Kasabian show you the way to scandal-sheet infamy.

By Steve Kandell

Blender, June 2005

1. Show 'Em Yer Nuts
Christopher Karloff, guitarist:
“Two things tabloids love are public nudity and displays of mental illness, so guarantee some ink by tackling both at once. Get your picture taken in Central Park, lying naked while pigeons eat chips off you. Much more effective than getting caught smoking crack.”

2. Get Into Trouble
Sergio Pizzorno, lead guitarist:
“Nothing makes headlines like messing with the law, so do it with style. Get caught with a ton of gold bullion in the trunk of your SUV. If you want to seem eccentric, tell them you’re making bullion sandwiches. For good measure, have a copy of Da Vinci’s Last Supper in the trunk.”

3. Date Paris Hilton
Tom Meighan, lead singer:
“Sometimes all you need to do to make news is have dinner with someone more notorious than you. Take Paris to Burger King—that’s front-page news right there. If you’re not known, this creates buzz—people will wonder who you are and what the hell you’re doing with her.”

4. Shag a Dolphin
Chris Edwards, bassist:
“One thing that’ll absolutely get you in the tabloids is getting caught having sex with a dolphin. Pick her up at Sea World, then take her out for a few beers. Take a few incriminating Polaroids and leak them. Don’t worry—it’s strictly a one-night thing. Next-morning calls are optional.”

KASABIAN REVEAL ALL ABOUT NEW SONG

Kasabian have spoken out the new song which the band debuted at last weekend’s Glastonbury (June 25).

Inspired by the dare-devil Evel Knievel, the group have written a track called ‘The Stunt Man’ to honour the man who once famously jumped the Snake River Canyon on a motorbike.

Speaking to NME.COM, singer Tom Meighan said: “That guy’s a legend and Serge (Pizzorno – guitarist) wanted to pen a song about him, “the white of the eyes of a stunt man”, what they go through every day. Because a stunt man is like a replica of someone that puts themselves in danger and they’re always living life on the edge.”

He added: “They could die at any moment and I’ve seen the documentary on Evel Knievel and I thought it’d be cool to do something about him. “The eyes of a stunt man” is Evel Knievel living his life, on the edge. Bang. What a finish. There you are.”

Kasabian are set to support Oasis on their US tour, which kicks off at Vancouver’s General Motors Place on September 8.

KASABIAN ROCK NME/ RADIO 1 STAGE

KASABIAN were in irresistible form this evening (July 10) during their NME/RADIO1 STAGE appearance at T IN THE PARK.

Playing with an assured confidence, the vibes men transformed the atmosphere into that of an intense club as they treated Scottish audiences to a tour of their debut album ’Kasabian’.

Greeting the audience with a jovial “Alright you ****ers!” frontman Tom Meighan and his band dominated the crowd with the likes of ’LSF’ and ’Reason Is Treason’ while storming closer ’Club Foot’ was the perfect festival anthem as the sun set.

As with their Glastonbury set the band also road tested new track ‘Stunt Man’, while Meighan dedicated ‘Processed Beats’ to the T crowd, saying: “This one is for all you ****ers right here, right now!”.

The band played the following set:

* ‘Pinch Roller (Interlude)’
* ’ID’
* ’Cut Off’
* ‘Reason is Treason’
* ‘Test Transmission’
* ’55’
* ‘Butcher Blues’
* ’Night Workers’
* ‘Processed Beats’
* ’Stunt Man’
* ‘LSF (Lost Souls Forever)’
* ‘Ovary Stripe’
* ‘Club Foot’

The band will return to a NME/Radio 1 Stage next month, when they headline at the Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals.

X-clusive: Kasabian “Our New Album Will Be A Wolverine”

Whether by coincidence or due to bouts of unhinged stalking, Xfm seemed to bump into the young men of Kasabian whichever way we turn recently. Xfm caught up with Tom and Serge at Wireless Festival and with bassplayer Chris at Oxegen for a chat about new tracks, the making of their next album and American cheese.

Dropping in on Xfm’s Ian Camfield, singer Tom Meighan and Serge Pizzorno spoke about the making of their new album and gave fans a (somewhat baffling) insight into exactly how the next record will sound.

“We’re going into the studio in October and November,” Pizzorno explained “The skeleton’s there and we’re very, very excited about it, we can’t wait. We’ve got a few tracks that are
far better than those from the first album.

“We just wanna get off the road for a few months and get down and record it. We’ll make our ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’!”

“We’re gonna go to the lab, man,” Meighan interjected, “And make an X-Man, a viscious wolverine. Even nastier than the proper Wolverine. It’s gonna tear up a lot of things.”

Speaking backstage at Irish festival Oxegen, bassplayer Chris Edwards was a little less vague speaking about the new tracks the band are working on, and that why, despite not returning to the isolated farm studios in which they made their debut, they’ll be making the record in good old Blighty.

“We’ve been playing a new song called ‘The Stuntman’ for about four months now,” he revealed. “That’s quite new. And some other tracks which aren’t on the album like ’55’ and another track called ‘The Nightworkers’. We never really knew what to do with ‘55’, whether to release it as a single, or put it on the second album.

“We’ll probably put the next album out at the end of the first quarter [next year] March or April time,” he continued. “That’s what I’ve been told anyway! Hopefully, but we’re not gonna rush it out. It’s an important second album.

“We’re not gonna go back to the farm I don’t think. I dunno, we’re too big for that! I think it’s gonna be in the UK so maybe Rockfield studios. Some of it’s already recorded and we’ve got it on computer, so we’ll do the same as on the first album and take what we’ve got and manipulate it in a good studio.

“Because we’ve been away from home for such a long time, we’ve already done three months touring in America, we just want to spend some time at home, in some natural surroundings, rather than eating cheese all the time in America… You ask for vegetables and they put cheese on it…”

The adverse effects of continuous touring may be beginning to take hold…

Kasabian headline the second stage at the Carling Weekender. Check out the Xfm Online Festival Guide for all the latest festival line-up, ticket and site details as well as all the gossip and rumours about all the biggest festivals taking place this summer.

I honestly didnt think that there would be any possible way for Kasabian to approach/counter their debut album, but lord... they did such an impressive job.....

Here's the video to the title track of their 2nd album "Empire" and you'll discover why I rank it among my favorite releases of 2006:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=r4qgcqCI5Dg

Per usual..their videos are of such high quality as well..... Will be a force in music for years to come....
